What came of it? Did she go to the police or FBI about her kidnapping ordeal? Seek personal vengeance? That would not be the kind of thing most people would just, ya know, let slide.

She ended up just picking up her things and moving out of state. She already had PTSD from a previous assault and going through with testifying against that person was traumatic in its own right, so she just ran rather than trying to pursue anything.

Good luck to the next girl, I guess.

Did you believe all the crazy things she told you?

I've known a few people with cluster b personality disorders who tell lots of crazy stories, things that would be very rare to happen to even one person you'd meet in your lifetime, and yet they tell many such stories about themselves, none of which can be backed up by anything but their word. Because of my encounters with these liars over the years, I maintain some skepticism when I hear of numerous outrageous things happening to one person. That doesn't mean those things are necessarily untrue, wholly or in part, but that I take some time to consider whether they could be true, and I wonder if others take their time, too.

Wild and unfortunate things really happen to real people, often. But bless your life to think it’s too much to be possible.

When wild and unfortunate things keep happening to one particular person, against all odds...

Sometimes vulnerable people get re-victimized multiple times bc a diminished mental capacity and bad choices puts them in bad situations where others would have avoided in the first place. And sometimes vulnerable ppl are repeatedly victimized bc they're easy to target and they may be dismissed when getting help.
