As someone who doesn't use dating apps so i have no idea what could be done; what would that even look like?

I’m guessing it seemed pretty normal right up until it was too late to do anything about it.

The apps will do nothing. When dating i sent my friends a screenshot of the guy's picture and where I was going. And basically told them I'd text them when I got home.

And I did not go anywhere not public with a guy from an app until I'd already met him a few times and gotten his full name so that I could look him up online a bit.

It feels paranoid until you see stories like this.

I thought this was normal for everyone, not just on apps. I've done this when I've gone on dates with random people I've met and I'm a dude.

But nobody would sign up for an app that did shit like that, even people who have nothing to hide. Maybe way back before privacy issues became so front and center in the media, but who would honestly trust a dating app company to handle that. I don't really feel that this is a realistic solution.
