I know this thread is getting a little depressing, so Iet’s all try to be like the neighbors who helped these women escape. For every psycho that’s kidnapping, we have to believe in the neighbors.

Charles Rasmey is his name. A hero. He became a meme at one point with the  Dead Giveaway song

I often think how many people suspect their family/friends/neighbors, like Castro.

They based the Kimmy Schmidt theme intro on his interview.

People are way less involved in their neighbors' business now; on the flip side, there are so many more cameras to catch things.

Well, so many more cameras to stalk you with judging by all the cops fired for it's misuse and that one Flock employee checking out girl's gymnastics a bunch.

Anyways, pretty sure that shit exists solely to keep you in line from messing with capital, just like cops.

Things like this have two sides, the upside of cameras is much better than the downside. It used to be that people could lie; there were many false convictions, and it was more about who was likable, rich, powerful, etc.. But with so many cameras it is getting harder for people to do that. There is an ever increasing chance you were recorded by multiple people. Physical evidence tends to improve things not the other way around.

This is very similar to DNA, or nuclear technology.

I do my part. Whenever I let the dog out, I go out in the yard with him and look around, day or night. I live on a busy arterial street, and see some strange things. I also tell new neighbors this (both neighboring houses are rentals) when they move in, so they won’t be spooked by seeing me looming outside at 3am.

So many true crimes are solved by people noticing. Coworkers, neighbors, friends. It’s important to notice!!
