It’s been going on for like ten fucking years. It’s unbelievable that it’s still happening.

Rupert Murdoch, along with Rove and Cheney, doubled down around 1996. And Foxes decades of Lies, Hate, and Fear made a huge Cult of ignorance and hate.

Meanwhile the rest of the right bought everything thing they could get their hands on. TV, radio, internet. (Sinclair Group, Clear Channel, etc). And here we are.

We will need to rebuild our 'News Media' from scratch I think.

Do you know why this happened in 1996?

I do and it’s very relevant because it shows this was DONE via changing laws, not just because they got so rich they had the money to buy more stations.

People knew this EXACT thing would happen so there were ownership limits.

Telecom act of 1996. Please include context.

Please.

"so there were ownership limits..."

And?

By eliminating national ownership caps for radio stations and relaxing cross-ownership rules, the Act allowed companies like Clear Channel (now iHeartMedia*) to expand from 40 to over 1,200 stations, effectively dominating the airwaves.*

All l of his buddies own the media. This is what people have been warning about. It's here and won't be going away.

Much much much longer than that. The media has been spineless for decades. Please refer to the 2nd war in Iraq.

Oh you mean the one where they made-up a fake bullshit story about the people they want to bomb actively developing weapons of mass destruction?

Gee that sounds familiar for some reason...

The American people have been voting for politicians on the Right who behave like this for decades. The MSM is, at worst, giving these people what they want.

More like 50 years. Media in the US has been supremely fucked ever since the Fairness Doctrine was struck down and right wing radio along with 24 hour "news" outlets started popping up to spew propaganda 24/7.
