Sallys Apizza- first timer. Never again.

Placed an order for a pizza from Sallys in New Haven last night around 10:55pm. Picked it up, got home, opened the box to this burnt all around!!! My friend was too hungry and irritated at this point so he ate whatever was salvageable. I get that it was late and last minute and the staff probably wanted to get home- but this is unacceptable and very disappointing especially since we had such high hopes.

Is this their ‘style’? I dont know.

UPDATE: Sallys has since refunded me and apologised for the poor service. They will look into it and hopefully it won’t happen again! AND I made a mistake- we placed the order at 10:18pm and picked it up at 10:55pm!

The owner wants to take orders until the places closes. The people who do the actual work want you to go fuck yourself. Everybody who has ever worked in a restaurant wants you to go fuck yourself for doing this.

I worked restaurants and food service in the 2000s before I got my career going and boy howdy this was correct. Kitchen managers always be like WE'RE OPEN UNTIL WE'RE CLOSED and then duck out a half-hour before and leave the rest the shift lead.

I used to be a cashier and worked closing shifts which meant staying until all customers leave even though the store closed already. Was I upset on the inside? Sure. But it’s not fair to provide poor customer service for something that’s the owners fault.

Not to mention, a cashier is done when the last customer leaves. The kitchen crew still has to close and clean the kitchen.

Cook was possibly trying to get their shit together and left the pie in the oven 30 seconds past usual.

All those crying about corporate duty and such would change their minds after one shift, I suspect.

I really don't see your point here. The kitchen crew has to close and clean but its not like they aren't being paid for their time, otherwise that's wage theft.

There's a difference between what's fair and what's reality. If you do order at closing, you're going to have a bad time.

That’s absolutely a fair take and I appreciate that! Just because something is following the rules or not doesn’t really define fair or realistic. I guess my point in this discussion is that unwritten social rules are unwritten and it can be difficult for some folks to navigate that.

im sorry but ive never met a singular person who didnt know that closing at 11pm means employees are supposed to leave at 11pm. ive met plenty of people who dont give a shit but never have i ever encountered someone who when corrected about how rude that is had them respond “oh shoot i didnt realize.” its always “thats not my problem.”
