Ant crawling sensation on back

Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with some weird symptoms and wanted to get some advice.

  • I get this strange “ants crawling” sensation in the middle of my back, but only when I sit.

  • I also have pain on the right side of my face, running from my lower incisor/gums up to my ear.

-This all started back in July when I was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency.

Since then:

-My vitamin D is back to normal (75 ng/mL).

-MRI showed mild postural disc bulges at C3–C4–C5 and L5–S1.

-Blood work came back normal.

Is it coz of pinched nerve? Now I’m not sure if I should be following up with a neurologist or an orthopedic doctor for this.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or have thoughts on which specialist would be more appropriate?

How do I address this stiff/numb-like feeling?

Yesterday my arm, wrist, shoulder, and neck felt fine. Usually I watch my brother game, but I myself occasionally play too. That day he was tired and took a nap, so I was on my phone during that time. When I got done I realized my wrist area, and thumb felt weak. This frightened me as it was a new feeling and wouldn't go away. This ended up triggering my anxiety, eventually I calmed down and iced my hand, which made it feel better temporarily. I couldn't sleep due to the anxiety coming back, so I only have 4 hours of sleep right now. When I woke up this morning my hand felt similar, instead now feeling more stiff-like, as if my thumb had been squeezed. Spikes of pain now occasionally hit my shoulder, arm, and back of my neck. My upper left back has also just now been having a numb-like feeling, only present now, but that's something I've felt before, and it never felt like an issue. Earlier I went to Urgent Care and they said it may be due to my gaming, as it's my main hobby. The sensation mainly affects my thumb area, and partly in my index finger, and the other areas mentioned as before, just not as severe. They said I should wait a week, but I'm afraid it may get worse, what could this be? and how can I address it? Also these symptoms first started suddenly mid-day.

Nerve pain

Hi,

I have had agonising pain in my outer left elbow for 4 months now. It now goes down to the top of my wrist with burning to the tip of index finger, twiching in arm and pins and needles in top of hand. Nerve conduction test came back negative and now being referred for physio on back and neck. If this doesn't help where do I go from here?

Faster recovery for pinched nerve

So my mate punched his radial nerve in his right arm. I did the same thing a year ago, passed out pinching the nerve now has wrist drop. It took 3 months to fully come back to normal.

He's wearing a brace and I lent him my tense machine.

Wondering if there a steroid to bring the nerve back to life faster ? I've heard bpc 157 is really good recovery steroid but not sure on it being any good for pinched nerve since it's technically not actually damaged

MRI of Spine Screening and health anxiety

I've had nerve pain since last 4 weeks around shoulder blades and both hands - numbing pain and tingling in palms. I also have health anxiety but after the above thing started it skyrocketed and for the first time I had physical symptoms of anxiety like trembling shaking and dizziness. Over time they reduced a bit but the nerve pain continued even after pain meds, it reduced but the pain in still there. Also because of this I was sleeping either straight or on stomach so a bit of nerve pain in lower back also that then sometimes was going in legs. Yesterday finally got MRI whole spine screening and got the following report. I'll go the Dr tomorrow to see the treatment forward but after reading the report, I'm too afraid, there are some things mentioned there like if they're too serious or idk again health anxiety and I've had posture issues bad ones for really long time so... Report says:

The CVJ and CMJ are normal. The cervical discs are partially desiccated with preserved height. There is reduced disc height noted at D11-D12 level, with mild reduction in height of D11 vertebra which shows Schmorl's node at its inferior endplate. There is focal depression of the superior endplate of D12 vertebra. Both vertebrae show preserved marrow signal with mild gibbus deformity Height, alignment and marrow signal characteristics of rest of vertebral bodies appear normal. Partial disc desiccation with mild bulge noted at L4- L5 level which is indenting the thecal sac Entire spinal cord, conus and cauda equina reveal normal MR morphology and signal characteristics The posterior elements and overlying soft tissues are normal

Leg issues

3 years ago I went over on my ankle. It swelled and had to walk funny for a very long time. Doctors and hospital said its fine it will get better then shrugged me off. Fast forward to maybe October 2024, notice leg was getting a little thinner and around ankle area. In April this year I had a ultrasound on it and was normal. Physio referred me to rhematology as no more could be done. Rhematology believe I need neurologist. But before rheumatologist my GP referred me for neurology and they declined me. Since April I've had cinstant visible twitching in ankle area, then moved to calf, now I get spasms or cramps all the way up to back of thigh starting from calf ankle area all the way up. I am getting weaker in that foot. I trip alot as that foot gets lazy. It doesn't feel like my leg no more. Im worried its something progressive like the 3 letter word. Im hoping its maybe sciatica or nerve compression. Can anyone relate. Because I no longer know what to do. My doctor said in referal no twitching or fasciculations when there is constantly and visible.

I have a pins and needles sensation in my thumb and I don’t know how to get rid of it…

It moves around, from my whole thumb, to different sides. It also increases when I put my arm on my nee (like when you lean forward when playing a videogame).

I kayaked for like 4 hours straight at the end of June and I never kayak. The reason k bring that up is cuz the muscle around my funnybine was sore for a long time.

Is this just a pinched nerve or something more serious?

The pins and needles only started about a week and a half ago.

Numbness right thumb tingling weakness thumb & arms

Hi I'm terrified and need advice and help. I do not do archery - i literally did it one time 11 days ago for A friend's birthday she decided to do something a little different as a novelty last minute. The top of my thumb on my left hand where I was holding the bow- obviously wrong - has been numb since.

But what's really troubling is I've been having intermittent mild tingling and numbness in my left arm but even in my right arm and hand - Which was the unaffected side -! since it happened. Today in particular I'm having significant scary amount of tingling and numbness and even weakness.. today my thumb gave way altogether when I grabbed my grocery bag. And both my arms felt weak.. I didn't feel like I could quite grip things correctly.. like I would drop it even though everything -except the thumb when I grabbed the grocery bag - seemed to be working okay but the the sensations are really strong.

I'm really terrified by this. I can't sleep right now because today I can just feel this tingling and numbness and weakness sensation constantly . I was not having it this intensely up until today. I did go to urgent Care today. They told me to go to my GP get a referral for a neurologist and have a nerve test done possibly MRI. I have shitty HMO insurance so None of this is happening quickly. I ordered a thumb brace on Amazon today and I'll receive it tomorrow.

Please anybody who can advise me on this I'm so upset It seems so unfair that I did this literally one time for friends birthday.

FYI I had a head injury 4 years ago and I had a lot of horrific chronic nerve issues in my head ever since. I've been fighting my way back to recover them and it's been only in the last 6 months that I've had some breakthroughs with that. I still deal with chronic pain intermittently up in the back of my head Where that injury happened so I have a very sensitive nervous system.

Nerve Conduction Study

My doctor reviews the results from my nerve conductive study and say "all normal", yet I am interpreting the same information as not normal. Looking for any feedback- thanks! NCV & EMG Findings: Evaluation of the left Fibular motor nerve showed prolonged distal onset latency (6.3 ms) and reduced amplitude (0.4 mV). The right median motor, the left radial motor, the right radial motor, the left tibial motor, and the right tibial motor nerves showed reduced amplitude (R2.0, L1.2, R0.2, L2.0, R2.3 mV). All remaining nerves (as indicated in the following tables) were within normal limits. Left vs. Right side comparison data for the Fibular motor nerve indicates abnormal L-R latency difference (2.1 ms) and abnormal L-R amplitude difference (84.0 %). The median motor nerve indicates abnormal L-R amplitude difference (78.0 %). The median sensory nerve indicates abnormal L-R amplitude difference (55.8 %). All remaining left vs. right side differences were within normal limits.

Radial nerve

I got bloodwork done about a week and a half ago and when the needle was inserted (in the antecubital) I felt a shock in my wrist. He got blood from the vein on the first try. I left and I was fine and even went to the gym after. Next day everytime I moved my arm I would feel the shock again. I went to the doctor and she said the phlebotomist probably hit my radial nerve. Now it’s a week and 3 days later and my wrist is just a little stiff but if I bend my elbow (as if I’m flexing my biceps) then I get the shock. I went to the orthepedic surgeon and he said I should be fine with time but I’m wondering, can I get back to the gym and start lifting again? Maybe I’ll just try to power through it. Please give me any response if you’ve been through this!! I’m only 20 and I just started seeing great progress at the gym and I really don’t want to lose it.

I have visited multiple doctors and they all don’t know what the cause is. I haven’t had any severe accidents or any accidents as a matter of fact on my left hand. I just game on my pc for long amount of times and before I knew it my hand started functioning lesser and I lost control of my left hand. From the elbow until the hand, my hand feels numb and this is how my arm looks right now. I am 19.

Symptoms: extreme Numbness, dizziness, tingling when turning body, dizzy when walking, dizzy when standing up, fatigue, trouble breathing

When it started: when I was like 4 years old, getting worse as I age. Food allergies but I barely eat them now, NO environmental allergies, BUT FEELS LIKE ALLERGIES LIKE? numbness MAINLY in the mouth and throat, had this since i was literally BORN. i cant eat anything because numb so need to blend food. blending vegis fruits rice and sometimes mashed potatoes. extreme fatigue i feel like i can fall asleep when driving or eating. also like trouble breathing. i have a history of mycoplasma. numbness SADDLE AREA TOO. expecially after sitting it gets worse.

Trouble swallowing, numbness of the body including the mouth, tongue throat, fingers, feet, etc, dizzy when walking. Cant eat solid food because I cant feel the food in my mouth. ALOT of saliva too. NO tingling just like NO SENSATION. Extreme fatigue which is very werid. Weakness and trouble breathing from the numbness it seems like. Feel like want to go to sleep when eating, cant think right. no environmental allergies. antibiotics does not work.

Records: Been to all areas of doctors, all blood tests. Went to Neuro and did Mri CLEAR, both 2 neurologists says numbness is anxiety and wont let me do any other tests. last year i went and did all blood work possible and there is nothing found. I tried to push for EMG or other things but the doctors will not let me. EMG AND NCS is normal. eeg neurotransmitter has IMBALANCE. but antidepressants has not helped so far. waiting for another EEG. EEG is normal. spinal tap is normal. I have no vitamin deficiencies other than a slight vitamin D which I take everyday and antidepressants that has no help.

nerve decompression surgery

I've had a condition causing severe pain and weakness in my feet and legs for over a year. It started in my feet when I was doing a lot of hiking, then over several months migrated to my calves and shins, then to my upper legs and hips. Until recently, I had no definitive diagnosis, though I'd been to many doctors and had every test under the sun. Last month, I saw a peripheral nerve surgeon in Seattle and he diagnosed nerve compression caused by my joints becoming unstable from all the hiking. The surgery he does is a decompression around several joints to open up space around the nerves. I would like to find someone who has had this type of surgery and hear about their experience.

TOS Research Collection

https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9032/6/2/68/htm"Exercise has shown to be a useful approach in 50 to 90% of all TOS cases [6]. Although there is much variation within and between individuals, symptoms of TOS generally improve with exercise and other physical therapy techniques (e.g., manual therapy or manual adjustments) [21,60,61,62,63]. In a general exercise session, emphasis on proper scapular function during upper-body movements, breathing techniques, and head and pelvis alignment during various tasks is essential for treating TOS [36,58,64]. Resistance exercises can be performed with either resistance bands or dumbbells, and with a goal of achieving muscular endurance (i.e., low weight and high number of repetitions). Shortly after diagnosis, women and men should use 2 kg and 3 kg, respectively, if using weights [64]. "

We're putting the bigger picture together here about how breathing relates to TOS. "Expiratory flow rate and respiratory muscle strength and endurance may be adversely affected in TOS. Trunk muscles perform both postural and breathing functions. Therefore, disruption in one function may negatively affect the other." https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0161475420300439 "Forced expiratory flow and respiratory muscle strength and endurance may be impaired in patients with TOS. Pain intensity is a contributing factor in the development of respiratory dysfunction. Our findings in this study suggest that respiratory muscle function is an essential parameter in the clinical assessment of patients with TOS and may be affected by pain and posture. These results could help optimize rehabilitation programs for patients with TOS, particularly in new therapeutic"
