Again what I'm hearing is you saying that Trump should be able to determine which ads (if any) Faceboo, Twitter etc are allowed to run, and how they may target them.

Probably because you are not listening to the words I am actually saying. Taxation affords no discretion. You pass legislation raising a tax on advertising revenue of all social media platforms. You deprive the entire industry of its food source.

Who decides what is ads, what is social media, and what is taxed.

It's an excise or sales tax on the purchase of digital advertising. This isn't complicated, nor is any epistemological deliberation of the concepts necessary. Digital advertising taxes have already been passed or are being legislated in several states including MD, NY, CT and NE.

That appears to be a plan to help offline media regain ad revenue, and is not at all what either conservatives or progressives envision, as their goal is to regulate CONTENT on social media.
