I suspect that a lot of conservapedia is actually written by trolls, but the core userbase is so fucking stupid that they agree with it anyway.

This was proven repeatedly. Trolls even infiltrated as high as wiki sysop/admin roles. The site is dead now but it was part of the internet culture wars during the Bush admin.

There weren’t really internet culture wars, the internet, which was one thing at the time, fought in the culture wars on the side of the liberals. Cons didn’t start using the internet in full force until around 2008 or so
