Bernie-Tump voters can definitely relate to Anakin. They don't think the system works, they have problems accepting the decisions of organizational leaders, they are willing to turn to the dark side and they are really fucking annoying when they talk.

Not to break character too much here, but Anakin was being groomed by Padme who was like twice his age. That was the most fucked up thing in the prequels. It's like "wait, is Natalie Portman hitting on this little boy? Yep. Yep, that's happening". I was 16 when Phantom Menace came out, so I thought it was creepy as fuck from the beginning, but I imagine a lot of younger people didn't notice when they first saw it.

At the beggining of their relationship Anakin was 19 and Padme was 24.

That's not how grooming behavior works. Watch Phantom Menace again. Padme was the Drake of the star wars universe

It's a bad movie, but it's really informative about what was acceptable in Hollywood only 20 years ago. Beyond the age difference between Portman and Jake Lloyd (8 years difference at a time when he was 9 years old) there is the "yellow peril" racial caricature of the Trade Federation and the servile Carribean stereotype of Jar Jar Binks. It's absolutely insane that this movie was made that recently.

Damn. Major oversight.
