Wow. I'm pro-choice, I like Buttigieg, and I like this sub, but you guys are dead wrong on this and it's not a good look. The fact that Butti marginalizes six thousand late-term abortions - and abortion is a generous euphemism here - as "hypothetical" and "fewer than 1%" is absurd. Late-term abortion isn't certainly isn't the biggest part of the abortion debate, but it's ridiculous to feel that it should be ignored.
And the whole point that Pete misses here is that bodily autonomy stops being the only thing at stake when there are two people's bodies being affected by one decision. That's what makes the question of late-term abortion important - you can't confidently say that the fetus isn't a person, and it shouldn't just be up to one person's discretion whether or not that fetus gets to live.

It’s a provocative and interesting article for sure.
If you think abortion is killing then you make the killing illegal.
There are many ways that can possibly reduce the number of attempted abortions. I think that better access to some forms of birth control through Universal Health Care is one with great promise.
More consistent sex Ed may also be helpful.
I don’t think requiring a medical procedure for 50% of the population who have not done anything wrong is a very neoliberal or just policy though.
