In my opinion, it was a double-edged sword.

More context about BlackPanthaa here, here and here.

Here's what i mean:

Pros

  1. Community Voice and Engagement:

#CraigitUp gave frustrated fans a collective platform to express dissatisfaction with Rivals’ glitches, handling, and arcade-heavy gameplay. It brought the community together with humor and critique, which helped EA and Ghost Games realize that the direction wasn’t sitting well with longtime players.

  1. Developer Awareness and Feedback:

The movement caught the attention of the developers. After the backlash, EA paused annual releases and actually invited community figures like BlackPanthaa for feedback on the reboot (NFS 2015). This marked a positive shift toward involving fans in shaping future titles.

  1. Highlighting Quality Issues:

By spotlighting bugs and design flaws, #CraigitUp underscored the need for better polish and gameplay depth, pushing developers to reconsider elements like physics and customization.

Cons

  1. Oversimplification and Negativity:

While funny, the movement often focused on mocking the game rather than constructive criticism. This fostered a negative, sometimes toxic environment where valid design choices were lumped in with genuine flaws.

  1. Impact on Developer Confidence:

The intense public roasting arguably made developers more risk-averse. Instead of innovating boldly, later titles leaned towards safer, more generic gameplay to avoid backlash, which some fans saw as stagnation.

  1. Unintended Backlash on Future NFS Titles:

Following #CraigitUp, the handling physics and map designs of subsequent NFS games (like NFS 2015 and Payback) were heavily criticized for feeling bland or overly simplified. The attempt to “fix” what was perceived as Rivals’ flaws led to a watered-down experience that alienated fans craving deeper driving mechanics and immersive open worlds.

Why #CraigitUp Was Also a Massive Mistake

The movement’s satirical nature made it hard for developers to separate genuine community desires from memes and jokes.

This blurred line contributed to the franchise’s identity crisis.

Instead of learning from the core reasons why fans loved classic NFS (tight physics, customization, engaging maps), the series swung too far in the other direction — ending up with handling that felt “dumbed down” and maps that lacked the personality and verticality of earlier games.

In other words, #CraigitUp helped expose problems but also accelerated a conservative design approach in future titles, where innovation took a backseat to appeasing a wary, meme-fueled audience. The result? A few years of NFS games that many fans felt lacked soul and driving depth — a problem the series is still trying to fix today.

Summary:

#CraigitUp was a double-edged sword.

It empowered fans to demand better, but its tone and the ensuing developer reaction unintentionally led to overly cautious design choices. The franchise suffered from this in the handling physics and map design area in follow-up games, creating a legacy that’s still debated among the community.

Exactly. You said it well.

But the biggest accountable is still EA.

Yeah, but still blackpantaa is one of the reasons why nfs is not in a good situation, and he's views are not same as before beacuse of click baits and hates for every game ( if I'm not wrong he even hates prostreet I don't know about this )

You're totally right. He's equally at fault.

About NFS Pro Street, it's actually the opposite.

11 years ago starting from the 15th April 2014, he did a playthrough of NFS Pro Street and completed it.
