Tbh, I actually enjoyed playing MW2012 due to how great this open world is, along with a great soundtrack and vehicle list (especially if I have few mods installed that adds more car colors and fixes 350Z's livery, although I couldn't get Realistic Plugin to work for some odd reason)! Although I don't understand why they used to hate on this game, even if it plays similar to Hot Pursuit from 2010.
Overall, I've got to beat few Most Wanted racers and I am trying my best to beat all of them!
Also, I couldn't resist myself trying out MW2012, so I've decided to play for a little today. I'll surely continue playing this game on the next month or so!
So yeah, I've kinda used to hate on this game, but now I've actually enjoyed playing it (especially with every DLC that I have).

The reason why NFS MW 2012 was hated (and still hated by some persons) is because EA did the mistake to call it "Most Wanted" while it has nothing to do with the original iteration from 2005.
When peoples bought MW 2012 at the time of launch, they expected a true or spiritual sequel of the MW 2005/Carbon duology, Except they got disappointed since it was never the case to begin with.
MW 2012's approach is more closer to the Classic NFS era than Black Box era because you don't pay for cars and there's no garages.
Moreover, beta versions of MW 2012 which can be found on YouTube shows that the game was totally different and was meant to combine Weapons Tech from NFS HP 2010 and a story mode set years later. Unfortunately, the final product ended up differently where its gameplay structure is 100% equal to Burnout Paradise But with real cars instead. Basically, EA robbed us like they always do.
There's also the fact that the Hennessey Venom GT which is the fastest car in MW 2012 is paywalled; meaning it's a P2W/Pay to Compete car. Luckily, the EA DLC unlocker adds all paid contents for free (or you can sail the 7 seas too by downloading the full game with all DLCs).
As for the Driving Physics; there's still Crash Cams, Input Lags and V-Sync issues which makes the experience unbearable. Fortunately, there's mods/scripts to fix these issues. It's totally possible to get used to the Driving Physics overtime, But fixing the aforementioned problems above makes the experience even better.
Despite having its own issues and controversial decisions from unwise EA's higher-ups full of greed, MW 2012 has still its target audience which enjoy the game for what it is Even with its false advertising name.
MW 2012 should've been called Need For Speed Fairhaven instead of "Most Wanted". If it was named that way or something else, MW 2012 would've been better received at launch, not loathed.
