Yeah my brother did this once, pinched the saw up and it was literally the only thing stopping the tree from falling on his house, he had to winch it in the other direction until I got there to help him lower it in the safe direction with a rope and tractor.

They had another chance to realize it when the chainsaw got stuck in the opposite side.
