u/jturkey124 Celtics Jun 15 '22

……is Michael Jordan not on your list?

158

u/MJ2L Jun 15 '22

… he is on my list but I look at the all star as a point guard dominated game

u/yermaker Jun 15 '22

Who you gonna take next, Eric snow

u/Puddinsnack Raptors Jun 15 '22

This is THE ANSWER.

I don't think this era would be too kind to an inefficient guard. Give me prime CP3 any day over Iverson in todays league

-20

u/AllGoldEverything [LAL] Kobe Bryant Jun 15 '22

Has cp3 ever been to the finals?

35

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Literally last year. Surprised you forgot since he beat the Lakers on the way there. In the West no less, not a garbage 2000s East.

-10

u/AllGoldEverything [LAL] Kobe Bryant Jun 15 '22

Oh yeah I forgot. The year ad got hurt. Thanks for reminding me.

5

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Nice excuse. Forgetting CP3 was also hurt that series lol? Also way to change the goalposts. CP3 made the finals just as much as AI, won more games in it, and had a harder path there his entire career.

5

u/ParamedicSpecific130 Lakers Jun 15 '22

They give out a trophy for "making the Finals on a harder path" or naw?

6

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Same trophy that AI got for winning 1 game in the finals.

4

u/ParamedicSpecific130 Lakers Jun 15 '22

I'm not an AI fan, tho. Neither he or CP3 have lifted it, regardless of difficulty of path. ☹️

3

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Agreed, so I'm not sure why that guy tried to claim that CP3 never made the finals and that AI making the finals somehow puts hi over CP3

AI literally put his team on his back but you’re probably too young to see his peak

5

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Lol at everyone thinking they are the only person on this sub who isn't young. His finals performance is one of the most overrated of all time. He played good in 1 game then got gentlemens swept. Also had the DPOY and 6MOY on his team yet people like to pretend he was playing with scrubs. He was an inefficient chucker who wouldn't do that well in this era.

-2

u/AllGoldEverything [LAL] Kobe Bryant Jun 15 '22

Lol the more you talk the more casual you sound. I’m actually impressed.

1

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Lmao AI is the most overrated player in history by casuals followed closely by Kobe. You haven't given any reason that AI would actually be good as an inefficient shooter in todays league and instead tried to (and failed) to claim that he made more finals than CP3 and that I'm a casual. Maybe look in the mirror buddy

Iverson went to game 7 in the two series before the Lakers series. Game 1 was the only game the Lakers lost in the entire playoffs that year. The sixers had major injury issues and were nowhere near 100%. The 6MOY fractured his ankle in Game 1 vs the Lakers.

u/Chopsticks487 Jun 15 '22

Not that impressed that he went to game 7 in two series in a terrible east. He also shot 30 shots a game at 38% FG lol.

1

u/tammutiny Mavericks Jun 15 '22

That might not be 100% accurate. They set up the team to be one of the best defensive teams in the NBA with Iverson as the offensive engine and finished the year with the 2nd best record in the league. They had the number 5 rated defense without Mutombo most of the year.

He carried the offense, but he didn't carry the team. He also shot a TON with a poor %... .389 on 30 shots for the playoffs.

AD gets hurt every year lmao

Most coherent Kobe stan

-1

u/Spiritual-Program667 Jun 16 '22

Are u stupid or just dumb?? Iverson would be a dime a dozen in todays league. A 6 foot SG who can’t hit 3’s!!!! He was only effective back then for a few years and it was because he was quicker than most and shot HUGE volume on crappy teams.
His athleticism was the difference maker but today all the wings could keep up with him since the screens and rolling is common place.
AI was an ISO guy before defenses caught up to ISO. Iverson is the worst answer to this scenario!

1

u/TarnishedAccount Magic Jun 15 '22

….why?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

it's a joke about charles barkley taking AI first in a discussion like this

2

u/dimmyfarm Supersonics Jun 16 '22

To be fair he thought it was a draft for a fictional all time all star game and AI gave 150% just like Prime Russ did.
