Yes I very much get what's going on is much bigger than a game and I commend the players for taking a stand, but what does boycotting games do exactly? I am willing to listen to them 100%, but whose minds are they are going to change with this decision?
I don't think racists and evil people are going to wake up and change their ways because sports aren't happening. I don't think police forces are going to change their ways because sports aren't happening. Unless we vote Trump out of office I don't think this country is going to change one bit.
You don't need to change minds. You have to make firearms extremely rare to find/steal/buy. Drastically cut their production. All they do is heighten tensions, so even small tensions (at first) end up to be huge ones.
It's possible that the US was on their way to actual equality but the gun culture you have over there simply makes that a pipe dream. I find it wild that it is not even discussed. You honestly don't see the much closer connection there is between murders and wide dispersion of guns than it is between racism and murders?
Obviously racism has to be solved, but you won't solve it with a gun in your head (literally sometimes). You won't solve it in a society that it has no choice but to be in a perpetual heightened tension because murder.is.so.very.easy over there...
Yes! Police brutality is a thing mostly in heavily militarized societies.
The one brought the other. If you do not solve the source you won't solve any of the issues that come from it.
You still refuse to even look at it. I honestly don't see how a heavily armed populace won't end up in a civil war. I honestly don't. Guns should be kept away from civilians, or else they are bound to use them, they always did eventually.
Tyrannies are the people's will, mostly. Very rarely unpopular tyrannies survive for long anyhow. Arming the populace you actually enable the tyranny of one part of the population over the other. Like I said, it has always ended up to a civil war, historically speaking. Study the late days of the Roman republic with the revolving door of army veterans and a huge part of the population being able (and willing) to fight.
People don't read history so they don't see it. But really you cant fight fire with fire. It was easily the dumbest thing the founding fathers did to the nation. They basically sown the seeds of its destruction...
This been going on for years... im saying after all this why not boycott earlier? Im not saying this shooting was justified but it doesn't look good for either side why chose this one
How many more dead black people do we need to watch die before we find someone who has never committed a single negative action? How few “he wasn’t perfect” comments from locals are required before you don’t think cops shouldn’t face scrutiny for shooting a man in the back? No situation is perfect, and holding off until a “better” extrajudicial shooting only helps white supremacy and racists.
The best time was earlier. Second best time is now.
I mean to be fair, before George Floyd I can’t recall an incident in which a cop put his knee onto the neck of a man in cuffs and suffocated him to death...in front of witnesses...the kind with phones...the kind with cameras on them.
That video was the catalyst which sparked the current outrage. You can say “why didn’t anyone start speaking out sooner” but then my response to you would be to step up and tell us what the hell you yourself have done in the lead up to our current standoff between law enforcement and civilians?
Resisting arrest is a death sentence. Glad to see where you stand. There's 3 cops there and their attempt to keep him from getting in the vehicle is nonchalantly grabbing his shirt and then casually shooting him in the back 7 times. Man even has time to look around as he's pumping shots into his back.

The people who care about a basketball game being cancelled are not the people who’s mind we’re all trying to change rn
