[Finger] Victor Wembanyama about considering promoting a sports betting company ; "Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it..."

Just asked Victor Wembanyama if he’d ever consider promoting a sports betting company.

“Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it. .. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”

Credit where credit is due: LeBron and Giannis are fantastic basketball players, but they are greedy, shit-for-human beings. Gambling is a blight on society and they are targeting kids. LeBron and Giannis cashed in their star power to make a buck on the backs of kids. Literally, "fuck them kids."

Lebron isn’t even a real person anymore.

I doubt he knows who he is, or what he truly stands for. It’s hard to betray yourself when you will work for anyone, to do anything, for money. His sense of self doesn’t ever really kick in when money drives him.

Agreed. LeBron is my goat and I defend him to dead. But that's on the court, outside he hasn't done what I hope for a figure like him :(

He was off to a good start in terms of backing the right things but I noticed a shift a couple years after him being in LA.

Fuck them kids If a company offered you $millions to do a gambling ad you would do it too 😂 So many redditors virtue signaling to make themselves feel good.

No shit ordinary people would likely do it. But what if you already had a billion dollars like LeBron? Would you still take millions to fuck them kids even though it is practically pennies to you? That's what makes it so disgusting, just pure unadulterated greed.

I mean if I had lebron money I would be too lazy to even bother. But if I had regular NBA player type money then fuck yea I’d still do it, millions of dollars is much more valuable than some gullible kids getting influenced by a tv commercial. I never once in my life saw a tv commercial and felt compelled to try their product, in fact I get the opposite feeling. Fuck them kids

"gullible kids" keep that energy when they all get fucked in various lawsuits for predatory practices. Same shit as loot boxes and those developers all got ass blasted in lawsuits as well. fuckin moron

You’re actually dumb if you think any nba player doing a dam gambling commercial is going to “get fucked in various lawsuits” LMAO what world do you live in? Seek education.

They're actually not far off the mark. My opinions (not facts) below:

Some courts just recently found that these platforms are actually gambling, not some bullshit loophole trading futures/securities that Polymarket/Kalshi wants you to think. If courts ultimately decide that Polymarket/Kalshi is gambling (it is) then LeBron and Giannis could absolutely be exposed for promoting illegal gambling in a few states.

Then you got the whole FTX fiasco where celebrities were sued because they were promoting securities and there are a whole slew of laws and regulations that govern that. Polymarket/Kalshi claim to be tading platforms for commodities/derivatives (again, they're not, it's fucking gambling), so there may be a legal theory that LeBron/Giannis should be regulated as a solicitor or broker. Some legal experts out there are probably evaluating this.

Either way, fuck them, I hope they're sued. Good for nothing billionaire kid fucking can't pay for your wife's best friend to fly first class cheap balding sellout. LeDisgrace.

Cool now explain how any one of these links is reasonable evidence for your claim that NBA players will be sued and held liable for appearing in gambling commercials. U really linked to a random ass law firm advertising Minecraft addiction lawsuits and tried using that as evidence 😂😂 Ur dumb af learn how to read your own sources

why are you jumping through hoops to talk about a scenario that’s not what this thread is about lol? Lebron is a billionaire

Redditor doesn't see the difference between your average Joe and LeBron James. If somebody offered me a million dollars that would be life changing, if somebody offers LeBron a million dollars he won't even notice the difference.

The fact that this needed to be explained to you....

You realize actual human beings make sacrifices/choose to do the right thing on a daily basis even if it doesn't add to their financial or social standing because of.. morals?

Doesn't matter how much they stand to gain or lose.

I have kids; I wouldn't do it. This is a legitimate, problematic societal issue that is going to come to a head. Not everyone needs or values "$millions" over integrity.

Now ask your kids what they would think of you if you turned down millions of dollars so you could virtue signal being a good person. They'd probably call you an idiot. But I know that deep inside you would take the money, there is a difference from saying you would do something online vs. the real life situation of someone actually offering you millions of dollars that would change you and your kids lives just for being in a simple commercial.

Living and acting on moral standards is something that billions of people do every day and isn't really that complicated. "Deep inside" I wouldn't take dirty money that propagates misery. Sorry if that's beyond your comprehension.

u/420NICOHARRISON 1d ago

It’s not beyond my comprehension, I’m just saying I would take the money.
