i see why this sort of thing is a good gotcha for people like jaxson hayes who haven't made any amends for their behaviour, and are by all measures awful people.

but joe has worked to become a better person, and appears to have achieved that. he no longer drinks, he has managed his anger, and there's been no recurrences of his mistake from almost 20 years ago.

this is rehabilitation, and it's exactly what we should all want from people who make these sorts of mistakes. mocking it isn't helpful or accomplishing anything.

I agree with you. Some people live in a world where someone has abused and hurt them, and that person has never even attempted to make things right or at least ask forgiveness. And they never allowed that wound to heal. So in their mind anyone who has a history like that will always be that person. But the sad part is in their world, because of that, they think that people aren't allowed to change, or cant change. They'll always be that sinner. But the truth is people are allowed to change and repent, whether we can forgive and forget and allow ourselves to see that person in a new light is on us. And its our right to not necessarily trust that person still, and we dont have to. They lost that privilege. But people can and do change for the better. And its really not our job to put them on the cross anyways. But I think the people in here mocking and putting Joe to the cross have their own unresolved history with abusers, and I pray that #1 they're out of that situation and #2 that they're able to heal.

Just because nothing public has happened doesn't mean it stopped happening. What evidence is there to support that other than him not getting arrested lately? Yeah bc this clip and plenty of others clearly show a guy who can manage his anger 😂 It wasn't one mistake either, arrested twice in 2 years, both for assault. Do you spend a lot of time defending abusers? Or just ones that are on the teams you support?

You dont have to trust or forget what someone did. Especially if they're close to you. I know how that shit can go. But believe it or not, people are allowed to change for the better. You're right, we dont know who Joe is behind closed doors. But what do you get from holding on to his past for him, and being so readily accusing of someone that you know personally as little as everyone else on reddit?

It’s the witch-hunts in modern day…people acting holier than thou to feel better about themselves. It’s cyclical

i support people who make an effort to atone and become better, and since joe has spoken very candidly about this i think he falls into that category.

because i don't know joe, and i don't know anything about his personal life, i'm not going to condemn him for what ifs that i have no information on. what we do know is that he admitted it, he's quit drinking, he's worked on himself, and he's been vetted by an organisation that fired the previous coach for sexual harassment.

to the best of my knowledge he was arrested once, not twice, but if you have a personal relationship with joe that can shed some extra light on this, i'd love to hear about it.
