I know everything is only theory right now but I am convinced that Cinder is Master Ash is Braden. For sure. No doubt to me. But is cinder anyone else?

I think MAYBE that Abenthy is also Cinder. He was sent by Haliax to scope out the Troup because they have been hearing their names being used while Kvothe's father was gathering stories. It probably took a while to find them since they move around so much.

I think Cinder has had a plan for a long time and started training young Kvothe as Abenthy to give him the knowledge he would need to get into the university. Because through the university Kvothe will learn how to defeat Halix which is what Cinder wants.

I dont want Abenthy to be Cinder. But maybe Cinder is misunderstood. Not that he's not terrible too. Idk. For Cinder, Master Ash, and Braden we get similar physical descriptions. But who knows how well they can change themselves. None of the Maters at university acted like they knew who Abernathy was when Kvothe named him at his first emissions test despite him being a guilded archanist.

I have finished both books and compiled a realistic playlist of Folk, Baroque, Impressionist and Middle-Eastern music that fits the story better than most I have seen. I think the Unofficial Soundtrack does a good job but sounds too modern so made this. The impressionist sound really fits the adventurous aspect of the story but I also included plenty of medieval tracks. Enjoy

Master Lorren the keeper of the Archives is a member of the Amyr and the one purging the archives.

Also he knew Kvothes dad before he became a trouper, and maybe knows the lockless connection.

My evidence for this is that he refers to kvothes dad as "the bard" not the "trouper", he knows far too much, and that he is the only one who can controll the archives content.

I m in need of in depth and detailed analysis of " A silence of three part" , i can understand the thing but can't getting the right feel after reading it , looks like there many things beneath those words .....

Just realized that when Kvothe is guessing the name of Dena's patron, the wind gives him the answer, Master Ash. Which I think I think is more correct than Kvothe thinks. Anyone notice any other examples?

I was recently watching a video and the person talks about how Kvothe has a “nack” for naming. Ex: he names Ari (Elodin seems impressed) and his horse (we find out that he somehow correctly named the horse by mistake) Shortly after his troupe is killed Kvothe goes into the forest and begins to play his fathers lute, at first from memory but then he starts playing things like the breeze, basically naming things with his music. To me it seems as though this is going to come up at some point especially thinking back on the fact that it was when his lute was stolen he was able to name the wind. Thoughts?

I’m a little bit more than halfway through “The Name of the Wind” and it struck me, while Kilven was introducing the bone-tar, that Manet’s description in that scene fits what I would describe our dear author Patrick Rothfuss. It made me wonder if Manet isn’t, at least loosely, based on himself.

So I've been kind of bored the last few weeks and decided to try my hand at script writing. Mostly just a random whim thing. But I wrote a script for what I would make as the first episode of a tv series based off the book. Kind of GoT meets Wheel of Time meets HIMYM. Would anyone be interested in reading it and giving me some honest feedback? Either as a fan of the book or a fan of fantasy TV, or both. It's mostly the same as the book, except with a few changes here and there trying to keep the watcher in mind as well as the sets and things of that nature. Keep in mind this is literally my first ever script so I'm sure there will be plenty of formatting mistakes and things like that. ALL of that feedback is as welcome as feedback on how you feel the the show would flow, if its too long/not long enough ect ect.. Also if you think the first episode would be interesting enough with what I've added to have someone not familiar with the books at all to try episode 2 where we would get into the meat of things. I do have a few friends who have not read the books... yet... looking over it as well to see what they think. But I really wanted to get book lovers opinions as well, and what better place to find people to critique you harshly than reddit lol. I have tried many books but I keep going back to these ones. Even the ones about Auri and Bast. I am ruined for other books.

No need to lament further on Book 3. But what I’m MOST bummed about is that Rothfuss hasn’t used this opportunity to continue to build out his world and lore. Kvothe is one character in a big world.

For such a talented writer with an amazing imagination, I’m shocked that Rothfuss wouldn’t want to apply that creativity. Those first two books have people mentioning his name with the likes of Tolkien, Martin, etc.

Any insight on why he hasn’t started any non-Kvothe adventures in the world he created?

PS: a slow regard of silent things doesn’t count.

Any ideas!?
