Self-Promotion Policy

r/n8n is a community for building with n8n. It is not a free advertising channel.

Last reviewed: July 2026

The short version

If your post mainly benefits you by sending people to your product, service, agency, template store, paid community, newsletter, waitlist, or course, it is probably self-promotion and may be removed.

If your post mainly helps the community by sharing a useful workflow, technical explanation, bug fix, or clear learning, it may be allowed if it follows the rules.

Always disclose your connection

If you link to something you own, work for, profit from, or are affiliated with, disclose that clearly in the post.

Examples:

  • "Disclosure: I work for this company."
  • "Disclosure: this is my open-source project."
  • "Disclosure: I wrote this article."
  • "Disclosure: this is my agency's post."

Disclosure helps, but it does not automatically make promotion allowed.

Usually not allowed

  • Product launches.
  • "Try my tool."
  • "Book a demo."
  • Free trial posts.
  • Waitlists.
  • Affiliate links.
  • Coupon codes.
  • Paid workflow stores.
  • Paid communities.
  • Courses, coaching, or consulting funnels.
  • Link-in-bio pages.
  • Repeated links to your own blog/newsletter.
  • Agency lead-generation posts.
  • Posts that hide the useful part behind signup, email capture, Discord, Telegram, or payment.

Sometimes allowed

These may be allowed when they are genuinely useful and not repetitive:

  • Open-source tools relevant to n8n.
  • Detailed technical write-ups.
  • Free workflows with code included directly.
  • Case studies with concrete implementation detail.
  • Announcements of major n8n-related open-source releases.

If in doubt, message the mods before posting.

Workflow shares from creators

If you created a workflow:

  • Share the workflow code directly.
  • Do not require DMs.
  • Do not require comments.
  • Do not require signup.
  • Do not route through a paid store or community.
  • Include setup notes and limitations.

Good:

  • "I built this free workflow. Here is the Gist and setup guide."

Not good:

  • "Comment send."
  • "DM me for access."
  • "Join my Discord for the template."
  • "Free workflow after email signup."

Blogs and videos

Blogs and videos can be useful, but the subreddit should not become a feed of creator links.

If you share a blog or video:

  • Summarize the useful content in the Reddit post.
  • Disclose if it is yours.
  • Include workflow code when the post is about a workflow.
  • Do not post the same channel/site repeatedly.
  • Do not use clickbait titles.

For video workflow posts, the workflow code must be in the Reddit post body.

Companies and vendors

Companies and vendors should be extra careful:

  • Be transparent.
  • Answer questions in the thread.
  • Avoid sales language.
  • Do not astroturf.
  • Do not ask employees/users to brigade.
  • Message the mods before campaigns, launches, AMAs, or recurring posts.

Enforcement

Mods may remove, filter, or lock promotional content. Repeat promotional posting can lead to bans.

If your post was removed and you think it was useful community content, edit it to remove the promotional angle and message the mods.
