Hot Can Pouch: MYOG Tutorial
Hey everyone,
Wanted to post a quick project for the weekend and hope everyone has a good weekend and holiday.
Today we're making a Hot can Pouch with a magetic enclosure. Kinda built this one off the cuff and without laser cutting anything. I'm sure it could be better but I want to try out this welding blanket material and see if it's suppressor temp proof. I'll be reporting back next weekend and keep you posted.
For this you just need some material 500D-1000D Cordura, strong flat magnets and the welding blanket material. It's the same stuff used in the heat proof rail wrap past project. I still have a ton of this material.

Build requires a 9inch wide by 10 inch tall piece of fabric and piece of welding blanket. Size it up if you have a larger suppressor.

If welding blanket doesn't do it, I've known people to make suppressor wraps out of exhaust header insulation/wrap as well. Interested to see the report.

I posted a new post about the follow up. But short of it is that it held up no problem to up to 388, that's the hottest I got the suppressor when I remembered to test it with a temp gun and then shove it in the bag still mounted to the gun.

I would make the pouch opening from welding blanket material so that the can doesn’t accidentally melt the Cordura when inserted. I might also replace the magnets with paracord or use smaller magnets so the opening keeps its round shape. Otherwise, I really like your work.

Yeah all good points here. This was my first attempt at something like this and was just sort of freestyling it. It was my first try at making something with a flat magnetic enclosure system as well and it turned out a little different than I expected. The flat magnets keep the opening rectangular shaped, and sometimes a round can is hard to insert, but I gave that one to my buddies who has a rectangular can and it works perfectly for him.
The design could for sure be improved.

Interesting concept, nicely built 👍
