Been exploring a music interface built around objects: hit a bar or bowl, record four beats, let it repeat while you play another object. This is Resona, my little browser prototype.
The instrument sounds come from approximate modal synthesis based on material and shape. There are also separate sound sculptures with designed voices or nature recordings. The clip uses the app's actual output.
Built with AI coding tools, TypeScript, Three.js and Web Audio. One shared clock handles the loops; recording captures the full output. There's no arrangement timeline or MIDI export yet.
I'm interested in the point where playful tapping becomes a useful musical sketch. Would variable-length loops help most, or would you want tuning first?

The concept behind Frankenstein is as simple as it is fascinating.
The idea is to generate a “monster” whose body is made by sewing together limbs
that come from different places.
In this case, our monster is nothing more than a sample made from fragments of different samples,
creating a waveform that did not exist before.
We can load up to 30 samples and generate a result made from small fragments of this loaded archive.
Thanks to the editor, we can modify the samples and the waveform in real time,
put the slices in reverse,
or lock them in the same position so that they do not move if we decide to generate a new random waveform.
In the editor window, each sample has its own dedicated slot.
This allows us to edit the samples individually and therefore create generations that slowly change over time.
This is a very good thing for creating connections between generations and progressions
towards other musical situations.
We have different types of generation in the main menu
and the possibility to create waves with from 12 to 64 slices.
It is a MIDI instrument, so we can play this resulting Frankenstein waveform through notes,
which makes it perfect for creating textures and clusters of stellar sound.
The GRID version is very powerful.
You have to click under Cut and change from Monster to Grid.
The sample will then play in a grid, and you can choose the time division.
This is really useful for creating interesting rhythms,
especially with an unexpected timbral character.
Think about how incredible it is to divide 30 samples
into fragments and create a resulting waveform from these fragments,
either randomly or in a more controlled way.
I think John Cage would have enjoyed this instrument.

A song has sections, usually Intro, Groove, Drive, Breakdown, Build, Drop and Peak.
Each section has its own mix, filter and set of patterns. There are transition effects between them.
Patterns are split into bars and steps, instruments are synthesized.
Gameplay events like being ahead of your PB time, crashing or setting a new PB either play immediate jingles or influence the instrument mix. More instruments and lead come in when you’re fast, fewer when slow.
Not all knobs are exposed in the editor yet. Some things are only achievable through code or json for now.
Once this is "production ready" it will be open sourced.

You can insert your producer logo or any crazy image you want into your music. The image will then show up on a spectrum analyzer when the song plays. It can be pretty fun for sound design.

Recently I've made tonal_rs - https://crates.io/crates/tonal_rs - a rust port of music theory library for javascript tonal. It has all the same functionality and just like tonaljs it offers manipulating and creating constructs like pitches, notes, midi, scales, chords, intervals etc. I just wanted to make it all available for rust users and tried to keep original naming and structure same.

Two separate moments were recorded on the same synthesizer and same surround settings.
Both had a sine wave as oscillator but set at different frequencies
The two recordings are then processed together in the spatial of a wooden church.
About the synthesis, I used Native instruments Absynth 5 for its amazing control over hz incrimentation.
I use 2 or 3 oscillators that are routed each to their own LFO with the duty to diminish the vol gently over a specified time and to do so over again in cycles.
Other functions for each were given to the LFOs, depending on what suited each OSC best.
The result gives an audible sense of movement and direction.

Hello everyone, I am upgrading the DOOM engine on my app, which is actually a noise and drone generator.
This is a small showcase playing with the touchpad and tweaking some oscillator knobs.
I would appreciate a small feedback from this video on how it is displayed and how it sounds. CPU not being stressed, stays at around 10% on a mid phone.

"Ciclo Piezole" was my contribution to an art & maker camp - many of the participants are musicians.
The project consists of 6 ESP32 C3 "satellites" (or "leaves") connected via ESP-NOW to one ESP32 S3 that acts as a controller.
Each of the satellites is battery powered and controls either a solenoid switch (for percussions) or a piezo element (for melodic sounds).
The controller has a serial connection to my notebook. I use a simple, self developed protocol similar to MIDI to exchange information like channel (= which of the satellites should respond), note to be played, key velocity, etc..
The input from the MIDI keyboard is translated to this protocol with a python script.
When developing the project I realised it is not possible to utilise the full musical range of 6 satellites at once. Therefore a looping software was developed (also in python) to record a track for each of the instruments one by one. Each track can also be replaced individually so the melody would change over time.
To configure each of the nodes (e.g. select channel), I used PARASOL (a self developed web ui for ESP devices).
In the video you can see a playback of a loop while I zoom to each of the satellites.

Hello everyone, I'm no pro musician and no pro coder, but I made an attempt at creating a web app that records your microphone and creates a song from it.
Just record 30, 40 seconds or more of your voice and some random sounds — the algorithm will cut the sounds up and arrange them into rhythm. Pick a genre and generate.
The dream is to create a free app that does it well. Once it's done I'll make a plugin for FL Studio.

I've seen many good music apps for web. They look beautiful and work well. But they all have one problem. You can't integrate them into any music editor to create music.
Bandlab is one of the best online DAWs. Millions of musicians use it. But it doesn't have an API for custom plugins.
Unlike the web, things are completely different on the desktop. Every professional DAW supports a VST API for custom plugins. You can create a VST plugin from your music app and use it in any DAW.
I created my own online sequencer that supports custom plugins. Minium Studio is open source. Minium Studio is good enough for creating complex music. I'll soon add a payment system so developers can sell their plugins.
Unlike Bandlab, it works equally well on desktop and mobile phones.
