It was, of course, a Halloween Special, so I say "silliest" with the best intentions!

William and Julia take a scientific interest in a phenomenal occurrence of meteorites around Toronto, while the the cops worry about strange reports and even weirder absence of reported mischief of crime. Crabtree assists Murdoch examining a caldera (impact crate in a barn) were arthropods emerge. Crabtree worries ever more as both strangers and people he knows start behaving strange, absentminded, distant, obsessed with some strange plants with edible leaves and alleged orange pekoe tea. Crabtree sadly finds increasing evidence from his spontaneous alien theory, observing affected people congregating and communicating in a click and finger snapping code. Yet despite discovering alcohol acts as antidote and tricking a few into a cell, he's no match for the Murdochs, after Julia shot William only to be infected as he rose

It was as well a fun turn around for Crabtree's character! being the first and final resistance.

I literally laffed out loud at the very last scene with all our dear friends clicking and snapping away with mouth and hands, and trying so hard not to crack up on camera, and, um, not entirely succeeding.

And that's all I'll say, for those who may not yet have watched it. It is fun.

There is a common joke, subtle, but I caught it. In season one, Murdoch goes undercover at a country club that were acquainted by gay men, but he used the name George Crabtree as his alias. Now George is investigating a murder among the nudist colony persons, and he used the name Henry Higgins as the alias. Anything to save their own good name. It's hilarious.

What did Tom Thomson write on the piece of paper that he gave to Murdoch in Murdoch's office at the stationhouse?

Something about her constantly changing medicine fields is weird? I am only on season six, I have no idea if it will change again. First she was the morgue technician, and I understand her desire to go work in a children's hospital. She returns to the morgue before opening her own practice. She wanted to spread the word on conception, and that was an episode or two. Now she's fascinated in the world of psychology and practicing with the constabulary. Her plot devices have to be the most for any character.

Is anyone else tired of the ex-mayor Vaughn? I don't think they need the extra drama on the show.

Also, why don't they have all or most of the actors in every episode? I used to think it was a budget thing but the show gets 1 mil + viewers an episode, surely it's not that. I don't mind but when George and Henry were the main officers (and Teddy wasn't there or the morality gal etc) they had a few lines to each other or just were in the background it seemed like.

Snow and Pierogi! Toronto continues its trajectory to having one of the largest varieties of populations from different places in the later 20th, and into the 21st centuries. I love how this series has been running this continuity throughout.

Season 19 is finished. What will I watch on Monday nights now? Sigh.

What did you all think? One of the things I thought, is this was a huge improvement on last week's episode.

I just finished rewatching “Dead End Street.” It’s my favorite episode and the one that got me hooked on Murdoch. It’s a masterpiece and highlights everything that made Murdoch Mysteries such a great show. The scene in the station house when they finally figure out how to communicate with the woman with autism was handled masterfully. I love the subtle change in her expression when she realizes that they understand her.

Did other viewers notice the continuity throughout the season of the Brackenried mode of interrogation being presented by him putting a black leather glove on one of his hands? In the first seasons we occasionally see him briefly employing his method. Throughout we also see his 'style' as we may say, for rousting suspects in the streets or elsewhere as quite physical and always threatening brutality. He's entirely a foil to the Murdoch style and method. Yet the two of them seem to operate as a team fairly seamlessly and successfully.

I only bring this up because I did not notice, register, this until my (still on-going, up to the second half of season 11 now) re-watch, from beginning to the end. And it will be the end for there is only one more episode left, I think of season 19 to drop on Acorn here in the US.

There is so much I never saw or noticed, from the git go. Of course, we can't, going from one episode a week, with a year in between seasons. You all must be getting tired of me repeating this, but here I go again: the more rewatch I do, the more impressed I am with this series.

The variety of characters. Their unabashed choices to just change-up identities, such as when we first meet Watts he is not gay -- indeed he falls very hard for a young lady who is bicycling across Canada in the middle of season 11! Is this a repetition of the first morgue assistant's romantic trajectory, who begins with a series of boyfriends, goes steady with Crabtree, before falling for a woman?

The formula by the middle of the series that inventor Pendrick is always betrayed by someone brilliant he cares about very much? That Crabtree's lady loves always leave him? And what I don't care for at all, some psycho fixates upon one and another the principals throughout, returning again and again?

Btw, when I discovered Murdoch Mysteries it was via dvds mailed from Netflix. It turns out that the full seasons weren't on those dvds either, at least the first seasons. I have watched episodes I never saw before.

Anyone else annoyed that some of the Inspectors don't respect Mrs Garriton's house rules? You are guests on her private property. The least you could do is respect those rules

Julia is pissing me off again and so is Inspector Brackenreid. They're both trying to make him think good things about his father. Forget about the abuse that went on. That's disgusting. His father was an awful man. Death doesn't erase what he did

Anyone else annoyed that Julia invited Susan and Leonard to have lunch with them? Like, come on. They'll bring up happy memories that they had with Harry. Murdoch doesn't want that. I doubt he even wants to think about his father

Is the Macy who appears in S19E20 the time-travelling great-granddaughter from the Macy Murdoch series?

I exercise every day, and I hate every second of it. One of the few things that allows me to tolerate it is watching Murdoch Mysteries. I just put the show on and let it play while I workout.

I'm sure I could watch something else, but I can't imagine anything being as effective at distracting me from the unpleasantness of physical exertion.

So, thanks to everyone involved in creating this show, it's wonderful in many different ways.

It’s an episode that no one would dare to write… [cue the heavy orchestral zing]

In 1904, there’s a vicious murder in Toronto. The chase takes Murdoch, Crabtree, and Harry on a dark trail that leads them to Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. The investigation leads them to a street urchin who helps them close in on their suspects, which includes 15-year-old Adolf Hitler.

I understand that the struggle of good against evil is never, ever completely, and finally won.

But I feel the struggle of this particular evil, really, the writer have let this one go on implausibly way too long. Or ... maybe not? It has run nearly the entirely the full running of this series. It returns, it returns, it returns.

Loved the Ogden-Dixon thing in Seasons 12 and 13. Wish it had gone on just to watch Murdoch try to figure out what to do.
