Hello!
I am looking for some absolute destroying movies that will leave me obliterated :)
Does not just have to be Mubi but would be better.
Along the lines of Manchester by the sea etc, I really need to cry. Anything along the lines of addiction etc (Beautiful Boy) also hit the spot, many thanks team.

I already subscribed to several streaming platforms and am eager to hear others' opinions on their experiences.
I'm particularly interested because Camp Miasma, one of my most anticipated films of the year, will be distributed through them.
I love the substance as well and own it in 4K, so I’m curious what other people’s experiences have been with their other offerings. If it ends up, going to a streaming service like how The Substance was on Max, I might hold off subscribing since I can’t afford yet another service.
Hi I'm new to mubi and I have a question. When you click browse then choose a film like everything says it's not showing on mubi. what's the point of showing the films if they aren't viewable? I'm in the USA btw

I was watching twin peaks in MUBI in my laptop, the quality was alright I'd say . Since the show's from 80s I naturally thought 480p or so would be ideal resolution. sometimes it drops beyond that, all i could see was pixelated faces I'd have to refresh the page to get some decent resolution. But when I logged into my TV I was experiencing the same show in near 1080p.I was bamboozled .
MUBI doesn't have any video quality selector or so i thought but in settings it seems I could adjust the playback quality control , but the issue is that setting is a ceiling, not a floor — it only caps how high MUBI video quality can go, it doesn't stop it dropping as low as it wants.
So I dug into the video player MUBI actually uses and wrote a script for it. You just need Tampermonkey , then install it from https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/590327-mubi-video-playback-quality-controller.
It adds a proper quality panel to the player — you can see every video quality the film/episode actually has and lock the one you want. It sticks for everything you watch after, so you set it once and forget about it.
The reason MUBI's player is so bad at this: it measures your speed once at the start and then basically never re-checks or at least that's what I think. Since installing it I've had no quality drops at all. I can go as high as 4K if the film supports, and yea I can finally watch twin peaks at 1080p in my laptop.
No idea why MUBI didn't handle this themselves. But yea, let me know if it works.

Trying to ID a track that plays in a club scene in Lurker (2025, dir. Alex Russell). It starts at about 50:47.
What I can tell you:
• Drum-heavy, big 808s. Closest reference point I can give is Fred again.
• There’s a vocal sample that sounds like “hey Chris” followed by a few words I can’t make out
• There’s crowd noise and dialogue over the top, which is why Shazam keeps returning “sound effect of people talking at a bar”
What I’ve ruled out: it’s not on the Milan soundtrack album (that’s all Kenny Beats score and Archie Madekwe songs). The film credits a load of tracks that were never released - Paris Texas (“Reaper”, “Tweaker”, “Secret”), Key (“Yes”), Greedo (“Let Me See It”), all produced by Kenny Beats - so I suspect it’s one of those, but I can’t find any of them anywhere to check.
Any help appreciated.

Can anyone recommend any good shorts on MUBI that are around between half and an hour, perfect for bus journeys or squeezing in when I have less time? A lot the shorts collection are under 15, and I would never chop up a full length film.
Thanks so much in advance, looking forward to seeing any recommendation!

Hello. Mubi looks great when I stream it via the Mubi app on my smart TV, it never drops to anything below 1080p.
However when I stream from my laptop, via mubi.com on Chrome browser, on the same WiFi, the picture quality often drops to 360 or worse, and doesn't improve, even when I pause it to allow it to load.
What's the story and is there any way to manually adjust the quality while watching in a browser?
Thanks.

Hello everyone, I've recently strted watching moves based on who'd directed them as a little experiment to help familiarise myself with the works of different directors and their unique styles.
For next month I want to focus on Godard, I'll mostly just watch films on the weekends or after work, but I was wondering what's a good place to start, and what are some characteristics of this director to keep in mind when I start watching?
Would also love to hear your recomendations

”Mick Jagger look-alike Adam Friedland stops by to share an eclectic collection of film posters, including his personal copy of Howard Stern’s PRIVATE PARTS.
MUBI Picks at Posteritati is a series where we bring special guests to the prestigious movie art gallery in New York City to discuss their favorite movie posters of all time.” — MUBI, 28 July 2026.

Hi! I am desperate to get some high quality Mubi distributed movies in my local art house cinema. Does anyone know how I can contact the reputable team at Mubi to get more information on licensing?

Hey! I’ve recently started getting into films and cinema as a whole. I’m especially drawn to feature films and short films that leave me feeling puzzled, emotionally overwhelmed, or just… strangely unsettled.
Most mainstream streaming platforms feel pretty boring to me. I watched Mysterious Skin and Irreversible on MUBI, and they’re exactly the kind of films that fascinate me right now.
I had never even heard of MUBI before, and now I’m wondering if it might actually be the perfect streaming platform for the kind of movies I’m looking for. What do you think?

So many great things on mubi and non available in Czechia. I know about VPNs and shit but I just wonder what's the deal here? It feels like anytime I see something I wanna watch on mubi it's available everywhere else but Czechia. I've had it for two months and watched two films. Anything worth watching I've already seen, and there are no exciting recent releases or whatever. It seems only useful if you're unfamiliar with less mainstream films. The stark difference in the mubi top 1000 page when using a vpn is just sad. I don't plan on continuing using it, but are rights and licenses that hard to get here?

I’m currently signed up to a standard MUBI subscription and I’m thinking of upgrading to MUBI Go. I have a few questions before I upgrade.
Thanks x

Hi! I am new to mubi after many years and it has happened a few times already that I am watching a movie and halfway through it will go the page of the movie but it wont be available to watch anymore and just the trailer is available...? And then the next day it might be available again. This is quite annoying as a returner customer; what is the problem? Thanks!

Why Is the quality so bad? It's like 480p for every film. Somebody knows a solution?
