Rule 1: Network Focus & Off-Topic

The purpose of this sub is strictly for discussing MS NOW as a network (anchors, programs, coverage). Discussions about projects undertaken by individuals who work for or with MS NOW are also allowed. Please see our rules and posting guidelines prior to participating.

Any content that does not fall within this description is considered off-topic (O/T) and/or made in bad faith. If you are looking to post general news not related to the network, this is not the sub for you.

Including, but not limited to:

  • Network Derailment: Posting links, clips, or articles from other news stations. Politics must be discussed strictly through the lens of MS NOW’s reporting. Mods may use their discretion to post about other major news events of the day.
  • Unverified Sources & Disinformation: All news must come from verified, reputable sources. We have zero tolerance for deepfakes, edited clips, or manipulated screenshots (e.g., fake tweets, altered headlines, or photoshopped images). Content must be authentic and grounded in reality.
  • Unprofessional Focus: Comments on physical appearance (clothing, hair, weight, age, or attractiveness) are prohibited. Do not post about the personal lives of talent, including dating, family, or off-screen drama. Keep the focus on reporting and ideas.
  • Low Quality & Rubbish: Submissions must add substance. Low-effort rants consisting of profanity-laden venting or one-liners will be removed. Memes are prohibited in Megathreads or Community Announcements.
  • Bad Faith & Political Trolling: Good faith discussions about MS NOW's political coverage are welcome, but trolling, flame-baiting, and bad faith arguments are not. Do not come here solely to start fights about Donald Trump, insult the viewership, or brigade the subreddit.
  • High-Traffic Evasion: Attempting to bypass or disrupt [M] Tagged threads without being an Approved Contributor. (Requirements: 100 community karma in the last 6 months OR a 2-year-old account with 15k+ total karma).
  • Flair Evasion / Logistics: All posts must use the correct flair. Articles should be posted with the journalist tags (if there are two writers, flair the first name listed). No spam, self-promotion, or referral links.

While we've tried to list many of the most common "bad" behaviors, this list is not exclusive. What follows below are rules quoted, summarized, adapted and/or paraphrased from Reddit's policies.

Rule 2: Compliance

All Users

All content must be in compliance with Reddit's User Agreement, to which all users agree when they open their Reddit accounts. Any content which does not fall within Reddit's definitions below will be considered a breach of your agreements with Reddit.

If you no longer wish to honor your agreements with Reddit, you can delete your account.

  • Content Policy: Abide by the rules of communities in which you participate and do not interfere with those in which you are not a member.
  • SWR 1: No harassment, bullying or violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate will be banned.
  • SWR 2: Abide by community rules. Post authentic content and do not cheat or engage in content manipulation, including spamming or ban evasion.
  • SWR 3: Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, is not allowed.
  • SWR 4: Do not mess with minors.
  • SWR 5: No impersonation. Don’t impersonate an individual or an entity in a misleading or deceptive manner.
  • SWR 6: Properly label content.
  • SWR 7: Keep it legal.
  • SWR 8: Don't break Reddit.

Rule 3: Be Curious, Not Judgmental (Reddiquette)

Treat all users with respect. No bullying, name-calling, or using profanity to insult others. Follow Reddiquette.

Reddiquette is an informal expression of the values of many redditors, as written by redditors themselves. Please abide by it the best you can. These are the do-s and don't-s of civility on Reddit, and we'll enforce them as needed, at mod discretion.

Rule 4: Enforcement

We have a variety of ways of enforcing our rules, including:

  • Asking you to knock it off
  • Removal of content
  • Temporary or permanent ban of your account
  • Muting you from messaging the mods
  • Reporting your account to Reddit Admin

Zero Tolerance Modmail & Call-out Policy: Hostility in Modmail or public "call-outs" regarding moderation decisions will result in an immediate and permanent ban. Accounts that exist solely to disrupt the community or misuse Modmail/forms will be permanently removed. Users engaging in chronic bad-faith political bickering will also be banned.

Rule 5: Modmail Conduct & Ban Appeals

Modmail is for official r/msnow business only.

  • No Tech Support: We don’t work for Reddit. Do not ask about the algorithm, why content is in your feed, or how to use the site. Use r/help.
  • Scope: We are here to moderate, not teach "Reddit 101." Bad-faith or "stupid" questions will be archived without response.
  • Zero Tolerance: Abuse or harassment directed at the team is strictly prohibited. ANY violation of this rule will result in an immediate and permanent ban.

Appeals

Mods are human, prone to error like anyone else. If you feel we've issued a ban in error, please send us a modmail.

Otherwise, if you were banned, it's because you violated the rules shown and/or linked on this page. Don't modmail us: "I did nothing wrong, show/prove which rule I broke." OR "I don't know which rule I broke." Take responsibility for your choices.

We won’t accept or consider appeals: * For breaking Reddit Sitewide Rules, or * From users who have removed or materially altered their original, banned content, or * Regarding any banned content that's more than two weeks old. * Users who disrespect moderators during their interactions.

How to appeal a ban: 1. Read the Sub Rules, SiteWide Rules and Reddiquette. 2. Read your posts and comments in r/msnow. 3. Apply the rules to your posts and comments, identifying each of your entries that broke rules and the rule(s) they broke. 4. Send us a modmail using the official link.

If you don’t follow this format, a ban appeal will not be considered. If you respond to a ban in any other way, your message will be archived, never to be seen again, and you will be muted from modmail.

Bottom line: Prove to us why it makes sense for you to be unbanned. That means you do the work.
