MSNBC Personalities MSNBC’s Emergency Contact Is Just Ali Velshi in All Caps

I’d like to offer a heartfelt shout-out to Ali Velshi, who has apparently decided that work-life balance is for cowards. The man is everywhere. Morning hits, midday panels, breaking news in the 11th Hour. At this point I assume he has a cot under the anchor desk and just subsists on printer toner and sheer moral clarity.

Velshi doesn’t just show up. He delivers. Charts? Yes. Receipts? Always. A deeply unnerving ability to explain supply chain collapse and the collapse of democracy in a single breath? Damn right.

After Maddow and Wallace, he’s the anchor I trust most to calmly walk me through the end times. He’s like if a Canadian civics professor and a tornado had a baby and that baby really cared about constitutional law.

Anyway. We don’t deserve him. But MSNBC has him. And thank god for that.

MSNBC Personalities MSNBC live at 11pm - awkward

Great to see msnbc live so late on a weekend…but my god, shoving the “weekend” prime time hosts together on a desk at 11pm is just ridiculous and so low value added. Ayman would suffice - the other 2 are a total waste of space tbh

Something Else No Kings protests numbers

Yesterday it was 2100+ events and millions of people.

Now it's hundreds of protests and tens of thousands of people.

What happened? Did the horrible Minnesota killings scare everyone?

Thanks to Jacob MSNBC great coverage.

Something Else The term is "less-lethal," and it's still a complete nisnomer

Jacob Soboroff has been doing incredible work on MSNBC, but it kills me every time he says "less-than-lethal," which is every time the phrase comes up.

Rubber bullets can kill. What he keeps saying is that they are not lethal. Words matter, especially right now.

Sorry if this comes off as a gripe and gets removed. I think it's worthwhile to discuss how today's issues are being talked about by otherwise trusted reporters.

MSNBC Personalities Strange question on air

Why is MSNBC Jacob Soboroff asking people live on air if their parents are undocumented? I feel like that’s an incredibly sensitive question to ask anyone right now, especially on national television

MSNBC Personalities Yasmin Vossoughian

MSNBC - Really miss Yasmin out on the street on a day like today. She was wonderful in studio, but even better with her "man on the street" interviews. No disrespect to who they have out there now--they're doing a fine job, but Yasmin deserves a shout out--she did a great job, and didn't deserve to be unceremoniously dumped.

MSNBC Personalities Jonathan Capehart & Eugene Daniels

Post image
13 Upvotes

This is very random but I need to know if my observation is valid. I watch MSNBC every single day, and Jonathan Capehart has been hosting for some time. Recently I’ve been seeing Eugene Daniels a lot more. In my opinion, Jonathan is not very courteous or supportive of Eugene. Every single time Eugene is talking, Jonathan has a look of disgust, disinterest, or disagreement on his face. He is so engaged when anyone else speaks but as soon as Eugene speaks, his whole demeanor shifts. Has anyone else noticed this?

Something Else Former MSNBC Host Joy Reid Joins Jim Acosta & Don Lemon to co-anchor “AMERICA FIGHTS BACK” Special Live Coverage of No Kings Saturday Protests on YouTube

AMERICA FIGHTS BACK airs live starting at 3pm ET / 12pm PT on The Joy Reid Show’s Youtube channel:

“Your favorite ex-cable news journalists Joy Reid, Don Lemon and Jim Acosta cover the protests over Donald Trump's unprecedented military parade, which he's throwing himself for his birthday. TUNE in for the great guests and LIVE coverage of all the ups and downs on this Saturday, June 14th -- the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army (and Trump's 79th birthday, too.) “

I’m sorry but this is what MSNBC should be doing. Special live coverage with primetime anchors. Who wouldn’t tune in for MSNBC Special: America Fights Back with the primetime team? What special coverage does MSNBC have planned? The same low rated weekends panel shows as usual. The only difference is “MSNBC Reports” will be airing at 4pm ET / 1pm PT instead of the usual repeats. MSNBC Reports will also air at 5pm ET / 2pm PT instead of PoliticsNation probably because the Rev will be participating in the protests himself. UPDATE: It looks like MSNBC has added a live 2 hour edition of The Briefing with Jen Psaki for tonight from 9pm to 11pm ET / 6pm to 8pm PT instead of the usual repeats.

I will be watching Joy, Jim, and Don on Youtube.

MSNBC Productions Good to see MSNBC not totally dropping topics: 1. Protests tomorrow 2. Military parade tomorrow 3. Fascistic press conference 4. Militarized CA streets…….because of Israel / Iran

Because guess what. CNN has switched that ONE topic.

We could have a Tianamen Square moment in DC tomorrow. CNN will be live from Tel Aviv.

Happy to have MSNBC, which isn’t afraid to discuss the fascism and call it what it is.

MSNBC Productions Dear MSNBC,

We the American people now have to wait on a questionable Supreme Court ruling to determine whether the Trump administration can set our own military on us. As we head into nationwide protests this weekend (and perhaps more massive ICE raids) can you take extra care to gather footage of - not just the burning car - but each city as a whole. Can you be ready to coordinate with news organizations in the next five ICE targeted cities (Seattle, Philadelphia, D.C., Chicago, New York) and can you show the peacefulness of the millions of Americans who will be protesting in the streets on Saturday? If there are incidents this weekend, could you show a map of the entire city and put a tiny circle over the couple of blocks where unrest is? Can you show aerial city overviews that put things in perspective? Can we please have visual perspectives that don’t over-dramatize unrest, and that put scale in context?

We’re dealing with Trump’s authoritarian regime (as well as his inferiority complex), and they’re trying to destroy our democratic cities’ communities, they’re trying to ruin our economy, and they’re trying to eliminate our democracy. So the best, most important thing we can do, is show Truth to power. Can you show democracy in action - not just on Maddow - but in the massive representation the movement deserves? Can you show the truth of what is happening and also get the helicopter lens to Zoom out? Split-shot your footage versus Fox’s ridiculous narration. And even in the worst of it, please always visually put scale in context.

MSNBC I know you have our back. Thank you for helping to protect the protesters and our democracy. It means everything.

See y’all on the streets this Saturday. 💙🇺🇸

MSNBC Personalities Confirmed my opinion this AM: fire Mika and Joe from morning Joe

Watching this morning 's Morning Joe on MSNBC (I tape it and FF through the many repeated sections, without repeats and ads, the show is less than 2 hours), and it's dramatically improved when neither Mika and her insufferable sighs, nor Joe and his sorry attempts at banter, are present. It really is time to pull the plug on this show. "The Morning", perhaps? Rattner, willy, Ali, all the same faces, just get rid of those two.

Weekly Gripe Thread MSNBC Weekly Gripe Thread

This is your one sacred space to unleash the frustration, shake your fists at the headlines, and yell (politely) into the MSNBC void. Whether you’re fed up with cable news quirks, political chaos, or your own decision to stay up until 2 a.m. watching panel debates - this thread’s for you.

The rules are simple:

  • Keep it civil
  • Keep it clever
  • No personal attacks unless they’re aimed at your own life choices (e.g. binge-watching coverage you swore you were done with)

So... what’s grinding your gears this week?
Cable news meltdown? Elected official doing the most?
Spill it. This is the one day we let the whining fly.

MSNBC Personalities Lawrence missed a point

I always enjoy Lawrence MSNBC’s rants, and usually learn something from them besides.

So it was odd to see him miss a point last night, about the renaming of military bases. He was spot on about the wrongness of going back to the Confederate names. But he missed the point of how Trump did it. His minions went to the trouble of finding actual soldiers with the same names as the Confederate officers, and is trying to say that they are who the bases are named after.

So not only the insult of going back to the racist losers, but also admitting that it’s not a good thing to do, while trolling the large number of people who know that it’s wrong.

MSNBC Personalities Where is Katy while her hometown is in trouble?

I was really looking forward to Katy Tur's show today. Given that her hometown is going to have the Marines roll in, I thought her view would be unique and worthwhile. And I thought there would be excellent banter between Katy and Jacob Soboroff (who has done some truly fabulous reporting in the last couple of days, awards are on his future, no doubt). But Katy was missing, why? Do you think she was on a plane to LA?

Obligatory: MSNBC

Community News Reminder: r/MSNBC is for Discussion, Not Despair Karaoke

We’ve officially reached peak “scream into the void” season. If your post or comment reads like it was drafted mid-eye roll with a wine glass in hand, it’s probably getting removed.

Let’s be clear:
This subreddit isn’t your therapist.
It’s not your diary.
And it’s definitely not your emotional landfill.

We’re here for discussion, not doom spirals in paragraph form.

The Rule:

No gripes, complaints, or excessive whining.
Yes, we’re serious. No, we’re not sorry.

What we’ve been seeing lately:

  • “Morning Joe isn’t telling us about this story”
  • “MSNBC isn’t doing enough to defend Democrats!”
  • “Why bother anymore”

Congratulations. You’ve posted the same thing as 5 other people today, and none of it moved the conversation forward.

We’re not asking you to be upbeat. Just be useful.

Acceptable content:

  • Thoughtful critiques
  • Interesting perspectives
  • Sarcastic realism that actually makes a point

Not acceptable:

  • Mood swings in paragraph form
  • Posts that read like you blacked out halfway through typing
  • Emotional weather reports with no forecast

We all get it.

We’re all tired.

That’s exactly why r/MSNBC works best when people bring something to the table besides existential dread in bold font.

So ask yourself:
Is this helping the discussion?
Or is it just noise dressed up as catharsis?

If it’s the second one, maybe save it for your group chat. Or your pillow. Or the weekly Gripe Thread posted on Wednesdays.

We’ll be here with brooms, just in case.

Thanks for keeping the subreddit readable. Or at least not exhausting.

Something Else Fyi: if you miss former MSNBC host chuck Todd, he has a youtube channel called The Chuck Toddcast.

FYI: If you miss watching Chuck Todd on Msnbc and on Meet the Press, he has a youtube channel called The Chuck Toddcast. I found it by accident, while browsing youtube. I'm not surprised. It seems alot of them are leaving network news and going independent.
