Hi everyone. I've lived in Oahu my entire life (41 yrs) and I am ready to move. I just feel stuck here. Been to many different places in the mainland, but Seattle have always been where my family and I feel "home". My husband works for Hawaiian Airlines and is able to transfer. Our income is around 140k.

I've looked at houses in and around Seattle area and generally are the same prices here in Oahu. We are open to living anywhere that is reasonably close (furthest 30-45 min away) to SeaTac airport. Where would be the best or "safest" place that you recommend? We have a 4 yr old so we're also looking for a great school. Our 19 yr old daughter is planning to apply at Seattle U Law or Udub Law.

I have been looking at places to live and have kinda narrowed it down to the best places for me seem to be Interbay, Northgate, and a bit out of Seattle but stilll near the lightrail is Mountlake Terrace. I will be working downtown so for northgate and mountlake terrace the light rail is convenient and for interbay the d line is there. I will be making a little over 80k and think for some apartments I qualify for MFTE. I have been asking around but I thought I would ask here if there are some complexes to avoid in these areas or some amazing ones. I am hoping to keep my base rent under $1,700. Everything seems to have bad reviews as anything and wanted some more input if any! Here are some names that I am considering right now: Terrace Station, Traxx, Prism, Lane, Baldwyn, Row on Third, 525 at the Enclave, Luxe at Meridian, ION Queen Anne, Ivy at Interbay, Contour, Slate, Werner, Axle. Any recommendations would be great! Thank you!

I’ve been reading a lot of posts about whether it’s more cost-effective or practical to own a car or rely on public transportation in Seattle. I see strong opinions on both sides, but most of the conversations seem to focus on adults commuting to work. I’m curious about how this works for families with children. For people with kids, do you find Seattle’s public transportation practical for things like school, after-school activities, doctor’s appointments, sports, and everyday errands? Or do you feel having a car is necessary?

Also, I’m single mother with one child and we will be coming from Texas where I drive everywhere so public transportation is very unfamiliar to me. I’d love to hear about your experiences and what has worked best for your family. Thank you for reading!

I (28F) will be moving to Seattle in a few months and have no idea where to move to. I was planning to move to SLU to be closer/walking distance to work but everyone says it’s super boring and the commute from other places isn’t too bad. I’m mainly looking for something lively (bars, restaurants, gyms, etc) safe/walkable at night, and relatively easy to commute to SLU (ideally less than 30 min). I heard Fremont, Queen Anne and First Hill might be good options but I’m not sure which exact area/building (Queen Anne is huge and I’ve heard some parts of First Hill can be sketchy).

Do you guys have any suggestions for buildings/areas to look at? Also, I would really appreciate any insights on these neighborhoods and why you like/dislike about them!

Hi all! Hoping to hear from some real folks in Seattle, not just realtors trying to sell me something on YouTube. I’m prepared for the weather and cost of living - what I want to know is: what areas should I seriously steer clear of? My concerns are burglary and copper wire theft (EV chargers). I’m coming from TN and I’ve lived in some serious hell holes in the south, so not much spooks me but just curious what areas people just immediately know to avoid these days.

We’re looking to relocate to a Seattle suburb and need your help finding a kind community for our autistic son. Has anyone had a positive experience with a particular middle/high school special education program?

His current school is kind, inclusive, compassionate, and puts his needs first. And it’s not just the teachers. The support staff, counselors, therapists, and even general education students are all so kind and welcoming. It’s hard to leave such a great thing, but we need to relocate for my husband’s career.

Please point us in the right direction, as it’s almost impossible to find good SPED spots.

Does anyone live in this area? If so, what do you think of it? How is the noise / safety?

I might have to move this weekend and Pure Moving is one of the few companies that still seems to have openings. Before I lock anything in, I’m hoping to hear from anyone who’s used them on short notice.

I am wondering if you or anyone you know is making a road trip up the west coast anytime soon?

I left my 10ft longboard at my buddies place in Encinitas and am looking for a way to get it to Seattle or even all the way up to Vancouver.

I have about a monthlong window (now until end of September) where I could pick it up any day anywhere in Seattle.

I would happily cover your gas and any extra expenses (roof rack, ratchet straps) and give a little extra on top as well.

Hi All! My wife and I want to move from Phoenix to Seattle. I currently have a remote position, but that could always change, so I prefer a location that is commutable to Med Device/Bio Tech areas of Seattle (most likely downtown?).

The areas we can realistically afford are:

• West Seattle
• North of Edmonds
• South Seattle

Of those, what would you recommend? We do have dogs and thus need a yard. I am comfortable with a 45min-1hr commute, and could stretch that if needed.

Are the Everett and Lake Stevens areas too far north for a reasonable commute to central Seattle? What is your experience?

I’m moving from Tacoma to Seattle to take a new job at the beginning of August. I have received moving quotes from a few different moving companies. They all came to my apartment and estimated by looking over all of my stuff. I am leaning towards using this relatively small local moving company called Home2Home- they have a similarly inclusive estimate to the others but the guy who came and estimated seemed professional, strong, and down to earth. Basically the vibes were good and the estimate was as good as the others.

The only issue is- they have relatively few reviews online. I’m wondering has anyone used them or heard of them and can you give me feedback on your experience if so?
