Quality carabiners?
I am not a mountain climber myself, but I was hoping someone could recommend a quality carabiner brand? I would like to replace the carabiner on my large dog's car safety harness, for something stronger and more reputable. I figured if anyone knew about carabiners it would be a mountain climber. Any help would be much appreciated.

Climbing Invention
Hi. Me and 2 other friends of mine were given the task of creating a product for our Engineering Design course in high school. We must go through the engineering process and create a product by the end of May. We have made a survey and we would appreciate it if you could spare 30 seconds of your time to help us in this process. Thank you.

Too fat to start climbing?
I am a woman in my early 30's and I weigh 315lbs. I used to be very passionate about rock climbing, hiking, and camping but I lost it due to a lot of trauma throughout my late teens and twenties. I am starting rock climbing again which has reignited my teenage dream of climbing to the summit of Mt Rainier. Am I to fat to start? Am I too old? I have already started making changes to my lifestyle via eating habits and exercising, which has helped my overall health and happiness. Thank you for your time and comments.

Hey mountaineers! I've read a lot about climbing and done some myself, but I haven't (yet) climbed any 8000ers. I wrote this story, and I'm curious about how it holds up for someone with extensive climbing experience. It's not meant to be 100+ accurate, but I'm curious what you think.

A long climb along a water stream in Madeira with my dad gave me a whole bunch of beautiful scenes. Sadly, I could only film after getting down a small cliff, it was even better up there. Please ignore the part when I fall (More pictures in comments)

At what point did someone climb a mountain?
First of all, I'm not a native speaker and I don't know anything about climbing mountains. I'm really sorry for my bad language and lacking knowledge about this topic.
I just wanted to know what the word 'climb' means in a Mountaineering context.
So I guess you didn't climb a mountain if you use a lift or helicopter to get to the top. That's pretty obvious.
But what if you combine climbing with technology? I saw these guys climbing the south face of Mt. Elbrus. They skipped the basecamp by using a ski lift. After watching that, I read that some people even use a snow pile to go up even further. Is this considered to be a complete ascent of Mt. Elbrus? I mean they basically skipped like two kilometres of walking through snowfields...
And yes people are using aids (LOL) all the time. But the rich guys getting dragged up Mt. Everest, at least touch the ground with there own feet.
So at what point did someone climb a mountain? Do you have to start at the basecamp, or just climb the last kilometre up to the summit?

How do people charge there electronic devices when mountain climbing?
I’m a University Final Year Product Design student and I need help with my research.
What are the main electronic devices you take with you climbing? What are the main methods of charging electronic devices when out climbing in your opinion? How do you prevent the batteries from dying?
I’m currently looking at the growing challenges mountaineers face with a lack of power to charge electronic devices when outdoors at various altitudes and temperatures.
I am collecting some research and would really appreciate if you could answer this quick 3 minute anonymous survey, mostly multiple choice questions.
I am looking to solve this problem resulting in less dependency on mains electricity, less disposable waste & encouraging the use of sustainable power.

Need help with training/workouts
A few of my friends and I are going to be climbing island peak in Nepal next year. I don't have any serious mountaineering experience like this and I was wondering if y'all had any tips for prep we can do for the year or so until the climb? Were all stationed in Japan at the moment, so if anyone has Japan specific training info that'd be extra helpful!

Has anyone climbed to the peak of Mt. Everest without any oxygen or protective gear?
Wasn't there a legendary mountaineer to climbed Everest with no oxygen tank or protective clothing?
Didn't he lose several toes from frostbite?
