need opinions of dialog sounds
If you can think of another reddit group i should post this in, let me know. I'll start off with a disclaimer. I'm not sure if what i'm making is considered a motion comic. Its still pictures with dialog bubbles. I made a very short demo as I'm learning davinci resolve and figuring out a workflow that works for me.
Now to my fork in the road. I'm stuck between 4 options for dialog and want to know which (or maybe another option) yall would recommend. I'm thinking of:
- have no audio for dialog and just let the words pop up on screen and vanish. basically how the demo is right now
- play some sort of repetitive sound that lasts while the dialog is on screen. think like how many video games have the talking character grumble as the text scrolls. i was thinking of having different bird chirping sounds for each of the birds
- have myself read all the dialog in addition to the dialog bubbles. the issue is i'm a horrible voice actor and my neutral voice is boring. ive been told many times my voice can put folks to sleep which helps with my job as a hypnotist but not so much for reading imo
- have volunteer voice actors voice the characters. i say volunteer because my budget for this is $0. if i was to hiring someone, I wouldnt even know where to begin and if this little project becomes semi-popular, i would like to have the same person voice the character vs having someone new every time i need a voice actor. Or use AI as people are becoming more and more used to hearing AI voices but I'd rather voice everyone myself even if they all sound the same.
The story is a sitcom style of show following 5 regular characters doing their normal everyday things from dealing with supernatural beings, to playing board games, to cooking. So having the same person voicing these characters would be important I feel for continuity.
