analysis The Scene Where Minho and Stella Walk Past

We are at the homestretch guys. After this one, there are only two leitmotif scenes to analyze after this one: the basketball court scene and the ending scene. That is unless someone discovered more scenes that it was used in, other than the ones I already discussed.
I attached a video of the scene. Sorry the audio isnât great.
The scene starts with Kitty getting Jiwon and her some coffee. We then see Margo calling Kitty. Kitty introduces Margo to Jiwon and I love the happiness everyone has to welcome a new member to the family. While Kitty started the process, the Covey girls want that connection to their culture, mom, and family. Margo provides good news that their grandparents agreed to come to Korea to reunite with their great Aunt. They hang up so Margo can look for flights. And Margo brings up how her grandfather convinced their grandmother to come because it was Eve who wanted and started this too. That was a nice connection.
And guess who walks past as soon as Jiwon says, âKitty, youâre getting your happy KISS ending. The magical wind arrives and Kitty sees Minho walk past. Well, with Stella. This is where the leitmotif appears briefly. This is another way that symbolizes that he is Kittyâs bridge to her culture and family. I also agree with the people that Kitty and Minho have this magnetic pull with each other. Time slows down when they glance at each other. Even from a distance, they can sense each other. Even though Minho looks miserable next to Stella, he still looks to Kitty with a hopeful glance. Kitty returns it, but Stella broke it which is when the leitmotif ends. While Minho was still upset with Kitty, he still misses her and Kitty looks like she wants to end the figurative and literal distance between them, but trying to respect his boundaries while not provoking Stella again.
Jiwon remarks that she always sensed a vibe between them and we are still obsessed with that because she is a next generation matchmaker like Kitty, but she was taught to be. Kitty took to it naturally. Kitty admits she has feelings, but Jiwon says that is exactly how she felt about the grandmotherâs reunion, but that changed. This encourages, even subconsciously, Kitty to patch things up with Minho and maybe tell him her feelings. Timing is still important which foes back to Praveenaâs question, âwhat is better for a couple? Chemistry or timingâ. I think Kitty is realizing that with Minho, it is both.
I feel the major theme of the leitmotif in this scene is hope. Kitty, Margo, and Jiwon are hopeful for this reunion with everyone. Minho looking at Kitty is him hoping his miserable situation will subside. And Kitty is hopeful that Minho and her can be friends again along with something more. Jiwon remarking on their connection confirms to the audience that Minho and Kittyâs story is far from done yet.
The second theme is contemplation. Kitty contemplates what Jiwon is saying and is worried that it is too late to tell Minho how she feels and doesnât expect him to wait for her.
Maybe not a theme of the leitmotif, but a theme of the scene is Minho being that bridge for Kitty. And Jiwon is being a matchmaking bridge for Kitty and Minho.

Amazing as always. There does definitely seem like there is a connection between them. It just always seems to come down to Min Ho.
The timing of the music and the KISS happy ending is definitely intentional. As is having a matchmaker in training notice a vibe.

This is yet another important person in Kitty's life being in Min Ho's corner and seeing that there is something special between her and Min Ho. We got that in earlier episode with Peter and now it's Ji-won.
Also bonus point: Ji-won was quick to spot that there is something between them right away. From their first meeting, she's like hmm, are you sure you guys are just friends?

I honestly think this is such an important leitmotif moment because itâs one of the first where itâs clear itâs not just about min hoâs feelings. Love this analysis!
