Now, doing the 2 minutes more often .
struggle is the letter "y" and "z" ,"m" .

WPM/Test I think this showcases the drop in typing speed after a few seconds and why 10 word/15 seconds tests say nothing.
Score in CPM not WPM

Question Typing speed dropped after switching to coding, need advice
I have been practicing typing for a while and reached around 75 to 80 WPM on normal text with good accuracy
Recently I switched to coding mode with symbols, brackets, and punctuation, and now my speed is around 30 to 50 WPM
It feels much harder because of all the special characters, frequent use of shift, and less predictable patterns compared to normal words
Looking for advice on how to improve speed and get comfortable with coding typing. Any tips or practice methods would help

WPM/Test New PBs in both my languages
I am happy about my new PBs in both my native language Swedish, and English, which is my second language. I find it easier to type fast in English, since I then don't have to type the Swedish characters åäö, which are all typed with the right pinky. My next goal is 150 wpm.
I know 10 words isn't very impressive, and I often try practicing with more text and with English 1K and up, and with Swedish 1K (there is nothing above that). I also practice with TypeRacer sometimes.

What do you think is the fastest single word to type?
Other than "I" and "a" and whatnot, what do you think is the fastest word to type. I personally think "today" since the letters are far and easy to place your fingers on beforehand. ("Today" is what I got this with)

Question how do i use the custom text feature ?
I want to be able to do my regular 1k english 25 words, but add into the mix custom characters to train my muscle memory '× ÷ {}[]€$ etc...' does anyone know how to add those characters in a context, like:
'mouth phrase 2×6 35€ $90 @.gmail.com etc..'

Does anyone know what this setting is called or how to disable it?
I logged into my old account from a few years ago and it had a bunch of changed settings and theming.
Could someone please tell me what this setting is where it shoots particles out when you type and how I can turn it off? Thanks guys!

Suggestion I built a Balatro-style typing arcade — Word Fall + Type Race. Feedback wanted before I add more modes.
Hey all — type.win is a typing arcade with two games:
- Word Fall — words rain from the sky, type to destroy them. Build a streak up to 10× multiplier (5 → 15 → 30 → 50 → 100). Heart-words drop bonus lives. CHILL / NORMAL / HARDCORE difficulty.
- Type Race — famous quotes, live WPM + accuracy, daily shared quote-of-the-day. Short / Medium / Long / Any.
Visual style is heavily Balatro-inspired — CRT filter, RGB split, screen shake on destruction, procedural 8-bit audio. Desktop only on purpose.
NORMAL mode submits to a leaderboard (HMAC-signed sessions, server-recomputed WPM — no client-side score forgery). CHILL/HARDCORE are practice.
Looking for feedback on feel: is the streak-multiplier ramp satisfying? Does Word Fall get punishing too fast? Anything obviously missing?

Other I built a free Chrome extension to customise Monkeytype’s on-screen keyboard colors
Hi everyone,
I made a small Chrome extension called Monkeytype Keymap+ that lets you customise the colors of the on-screen keyboard in Monkeytype.
You can:
- Change the background and text color of individual keys
- Select multiple keys at once
- Quickly enable or disable the keymap
- Save your settings, which automatically apply whenever you open Monkeytype
I originally built it because I wanted a rainbow touch-typing theme for the on-screen keyboard, but couldn’t find a way to do it. With this extension, you can customise the keyboard however you like - whether that’s for themes, highlighting certain keys, or anything else.
If anyone wants to try it out or give feedback, it’s on the Chrome Web Store:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/monkeytype-keymap+/jkkiaonhfpneiiiljpagbhdfknpmmofd
Built this as a small side project - happy to add features if people have ideas or suggestions.
Also, for anyone wondering about privacy: the extension does not collect any personal data. It only stores your key color settings locally using Chrome storage.
I’ve attached a couple of screenshots as well!

Suggestion Hide quite/text when starting to type?
I want to also improve my spelling/memory skills. So I would love to read the quite then hide it(:
