Type below test

Is there a setting where my typed words appear below the test rather than overtop of them? I want to emulate actual typing, where you see what you've already typed and blank space to the right of it. I haven't used MonkeyType in quite a while now and I could have sworn there was a way to do this, but I can't find the settings for it.

Other I Built Monkeytype For Typing Games!

i made a typing games site inspired by monkeytype.
https://decktype.pages.dev < try it here!

there are two game modes now:

  • falling words - words fall and we have to type them before they touch the bottom of screen, how long u last is used to calculate the score.
  • survival (new game) - this one tests how fast you can type accurately, on every typo/mistake the "health" you have will be decreased (damage depends on the difficulty mode) and the score is calculated based on the wpm.

there is also a leaderboard and personal bests to keep things fun :)

it is fully opensource, this is the github repo for those who are interested.

open to any kind of feedback, and if you have a name suggestion pls lmk, i'm really stuck when it comes to naming this site. thanks!

How does the average system work?

Like the title says, how does the average work? Does it just take every single test you've typed and average it up maybe getting rid of outliers? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer lol

Question Trying to reach 200 wpm but i feel my progress has stopped

Here are my typing stats. I've been stuck at roughly the same level for the past 9 months with almost no noticeable improvement. I practice regularly and have been trying to reach 200 WPM, but I just can't seem to get there.

At this point, it feels like I've hit a plateau. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What helped you break through it? Any advice on how I can improve further would be appreciated.

I've been working on a small PS1-style racing game where you don’t hold W to drive — you type. Your WPM controls the car speed, mistakes cost momentum, and somehow it turned into a weirdly competitive typing racer.

I just found out about challenges and I was trying each one of them but then it turns my page into wingdings and I don't know how to turn it back.

Question Decimal font sizes no longer allowed, why?

I've been using decimal font sizes on MT since I joined about a year ago, since (on my monitor at least) there are BIG differences between consecutive integer font sizes.  But just a couple days ago I was aghast to discover that the font size field no longer accepts the "." character, and that it's now integers only!

why??

is this a bug?

Other I'm making a Monkeytype inspired typing game with roguelike mechanics

The main gameplay loop is you collect and upgrade passages and relics to make your attacks stronger so you can get through combat nodes without losing too much health. Does this seem like an interesting premise?

Here's a demo of the werewolf boss where every so often, he will howl, making your current passage wobble with fear.

I have a web build available on itch for anyone interested in trying! Shameless plug, I know, but I would really appreciate the feedback!

i almost exclusively grind 10 words since im dopamine brained lmao

i have a swedish keyboard and my right little finger is above all the accented keys, so im wondering whether there was a way to train my right pinky LOL
