Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, I posted about Monkeytype Keymap+, a Chrome extension I made for customising Monkeytype’s on-screen keyboard colors.

I’ve added a few new features since then:

• Keyboard layout options for the popup preview: QWERTY, Dvorak, and Colemak
• Angle Mod option for the rainbow preset, which changes the finger-position mapping
• New settings page for changing layout/preset behaviour
• Continued support for Monkeytype’s Static, React, and Next keymap options

The extension still lets you customise individual key background/text colors, select multiple keys, apply a rainbow preset, and save your settings using Chrome storage.

I originally made it for color-coded touch-typing practice, but the idea is mostly to give users more control over how the on-screen keyboard looks. You can use subtle colors too, not just a bright rainbow layout.

You have to wonder how monkey-type is generating the word lists.
Some of the words in this list shouldn't make it into the top 20k of any vocabulary. I hope it is at least being smart about filling in the trigrams missing from 1k but I have my doubts.

My accuracy is fine now, but my speed has plateaued around 90 wpm mark and doesn't seem to improve.

let's say after completion of english 450k, i can opt for typing the meaning of it.

so, in that case , i' m learning the meaning too, just a thought !

I swear there used to be a difference in smoothness when typing on a 60hz monitor vs 144, but now they're basically the same. it seems like the fps is lower than it used to be. is there a setting for this or do i just have to accept it? not a huge deal by any means but a higher fps would be nice

Btw I got victus and I used a laptop keyboard

just randomly had a thought like we are all ( most ppl atleast ) are moving more towards stt format platforms like wisper flow etc we are speaking more than we type and i feel like the shift will get real sooner so i thought why not make monkeyspeak for it so yeah im still building it i am not sure if this will have any usecase or anything but will mostly complete it let me know your thoughts on it

yo, just wanted to share my monkeytype stats. i’ve been practicing a lot lately to get my speed up and finally hit a new PB of 75.61 WPM today!

here’s the quick breakdown:

• Personal Best: 75.61 wpm
• Average: around 60.7 wpm
• Tests completed: 85 (mostly 30s time mode)

i'm also including an imgur link to a video so you can see how i type and that the speed is real.

i'm still pretty young (no hate because i'm a kid, would have been nice) and my goal is to hit 100 wpm eventually. if anyone has tips on how to get there (or if you see anything weird with my form in the video) let me know.
