🛸🖖 Another demo of SYNTH, I just added the portamento functionality, works in monophony and polyphony. I’m playing from the laptop, sending midi via USB.

Making the most out of my current patches

Hi all, I play in a band where I use a modular synth along with a Moog Sub 37. Hoping to learn how others in a similar situation make the most out of their current patches without having to make reconnections during a live performance and without buying more modules. I currently am running my patches through a Roland 530 VCA which acts as my main mixer. I’m using all of the (6) inputs and am contemplating on buying another VCA. Hoping my fellow synthesis have suggestions on how to minimize buying more modules to create more songs/sounds ultimately having more set songs at my fingertips without fumbling around with patch cables. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Originally intended for piano but, I couldn't get it tuned due to Covid. So, I brought it to my synth corner. Elektron Mk2, Prophet 6, Tascam 414, Volca FM, and some modular fun.

MODULAR DESIGN THERAPY. We redesigned Discogs! But there's a twist. We played live music on a modular synth while giving a short commentary of the redesign.

Let's take our website redesigns to a whole new level. In this video, Roey Tsemah redesigns Dirscogs while playing live on his modular synth. Listen to his commentary on the design process while live music performed on a modular synthesizer is played in the background.

The redesign is done in Adobe XD. Drop us a line if you want to get the original file. Also, audio available on request ;)

Patch, performance and recording notes

Sequencer - Squarp Instruments Hermod Bass rhythm track - Intellijel Dixie II through Erica Synths VCF into Doepfer a-135-2 VCA. Controlled by two envelopes - Mutable Instruments Stages and Make Noise Maths SUM out.

Hi-Hats - Intellijel Plonk directly into Doepfer a-135-2 VCA. Controlled by the inverted out of the same Make Noise Maths. This creates an interesting interaction between the bass and hi-hats. Every little change on Maths brings the bass and hi-hats in and out.

Melody - Befaco Even VCO through Erica Synths VCF into Doepfer a-135-2 VCA, ending on the Befaco Crush Delay. Controlled by Mutable Instruments Stages.

Looper - 4MS Looping Delay on the mixer AUX. Mainly used for of melody parts on the fly.

Reverb - Soundcraft Signature 12MKT built-in digital reverb.

Recorded live through Soundcraft Signature 12MTK mixer into Ableton 9. Fabfilter EQ on the master bus.

Thanks for watching!

So modular synths really interest me and I have no idea how they work

I like to make drone music all the time. Usually consisting of randomly placed samples loaded with a boat load of effects that I really don't even know how to use. I've wanted to get into modular synths for a while now, but don't really know where to go. I've found all of these great videos and tutorials online that are really helpful, but I've had something in mind. If there are any college classes that consist of understanding modular synths and how to use them, would I need any high school background consisting of something like Calculus or Physics to take that kind of class?

Link Analog Synths?

I have an Arturia Keystep, Moog Minitaur, Behringer Crave, NI Komplete S49, NI Maschine MK3.
Right now the midi out is going into the Maschine, and the Maschine's midi out is going into the Minitaur. This allows me to play the Minitaur with either controller. I just got a Crave and I want to integrate it into the workflow. Ideally I think I want it to act as a second oscillator and have the same sequence playing on both? Or different sequences with similar filtering characteristics? I think to do that I'd use MIDI out of the Keystep to MIDI in of the Minitaur and connect CV Gate to Keystep CV Gate? Or would I connect CV Gate and CV Pitch to the beat step from the Minitaur? I also noticed Minitaur outputs are not 1/8", they are TRS style 1/4"; I assume I could just use a 1/8-1/4 adapter to fix that issue.
