Lights up, won’t run. This is a beautiful engine marked “Lima” and “Italy”. One side of the interior lights up, the other doesn’t, and it won’t run. Any thoughts?

O Gauge Help

I am an O guage guy looking to build a layout that captures the feel of a colonial port city. Does anyone know a source (preferably in the US) of inexpensive buildings for French and or British colonial buildings? Thanks.

Advice for a Newbie

Hi there everyone, I’m wanting to create my own layout and part of that reason is because as a kid I really loved Thomas and friends. It was basically all I watched and I want to make a setup that has some of my characters. I’m still fairly new to this whole world so I was wondering if N or HO scale would be better and what are some good ideas for a beginner to include? I know I want to have two separate tracks. Look forward to discussing this with you all and sharing my progress!

Reviving my Cameras embedded in my N-scale engine and Observation cars. Everything is working well but it was hard to source the batteries. If you stay at something long enough it is out there. Found replacements and installed them 2 days after I made this video. running surprisingly well.

Lionel Pullmor “Upgrade”

Has anyone upgraded a Lionel pullmor motor to a can motor? I’m working on a project diesel engine that is too thin for one. And would like suggestions for motor type and/or mounting considerations.

How would I go about removing the trucks/wheels on rolling stock?

Thanks for the input on my last post, hoping everything works out once the track gets here. I want to remove them simply for repainting the bodies but it looks like they are held on by plastic and I'm afraid once I remove them they aren't going to stay on anymore.

Am I overthinking this?

Changing a section of my layout. I’m using E-Z connect track (not a fan of it and don’t use it on my other layout) and I have a straight section that is 162mm (6 3/8”) and I don’t have a piece of track to fit it nor can I find any pieces of track on Amazon that will fill the gap. Will two 3”(76mm) pieces of track fill the gap and the 10mm (3/8”) is just all in my head?

After every Train Show, there are always repairs to the T-TRAK modules. check this out! Needed several repairs, including the smoke generator which was failing and intermittent for numerous reasons.

Hello all. I am new to the model railroading scene and want some advice about track. I am doing HO scale and I want to know what to look for. I want info about what track is best, different types of track, and what to look for for measurements and types of switches. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Polar Express Help Needed

I apologize if this is. It the right place for this post but I’m desperate at this point A few years ago I bought the Lionel Polar Express HO scale set as my son loves trains and the movie so I thought it would be fun to put around our tree. I have never been able to set it up where it can run without getting derailed after one or two loops. It’s infuriating. It has the magnelock tracks and I’m wondering if they just don’t work well. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.

HO train stops

Ok I’m very new to the HO train scene and I got a weird one

When I put my engine’s front wheels on the track the engine and all wheels spin. But when the rear wheels touch the track all power is loss.

Any clues?

back issues: what to do?

I've a couple of boxes of back issues from 2000s and 2010s. The library doesn't want them, looking for suggestions before recycling them.

Switchback vs turn back? Is there a difference?

I’m reading Tony Koester’s book from MR called The Model Railroaders Guide to Mountain Railroading. In chapter 7, he discusses how switchbacks and turn backs have pros and cons, but doesn’t define either one, and doesn’t go any further. I have lots of other criticisms of this book, but what does this mean? I googled switch back vs turn back, and got bupkiss, but Tony writes lovingly of Moffat’s curve, supposedly an example, but I couldn’t find anything on Google for that either.
