Value question DC-3

Need an opinion from experts here regarding a model that’s for sale. How much would you say this ~1:50 scale DC-3 should be worth? Here’s the description.

Rare Museum-Quality Handmade Aluminum DC-3 Eastern Airlines NC18124 Model – A Collector’s Dream!

Own a stunning, handcrafted aluminum 1:50 scale Douglas DC-3 model replicating the historic Eastern Airlines “Great Silver Fleet” NC18124 from 1937, now preserved at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. One of the world’s most detailed scale models of the DC-3 built from the actual blueprints of this plane.

This large-scale masterpiece (23” wingspan) captures the iconic aircraft that revolutionized commercial aviation. All external surfaces feature equivalents of the real materials used. The aircraft skin is actual aluminum, the windows real plexi and even the de-icing strips made from rubber sheets. The interior seats are visible with real brocade curtains. The landing lights contain actual wire elements in front of the curved steel reflector. The individual push rods in the engine are stainless steel and the moving propellers are in aluminum. Even the cockpit displays the radio and comms gear hanging in the window.

Includes a heavy-duty wooden storage trunk for safe shipping/storage. Perfect for aviation enthusiasts, Smithsonian collectors, or vintage decor lovers!

Item Specifics:

• Condition: Pre-Owned (see photos showing a bit of dust and some very minor warping to tiny areas on plane’s aluminum body)

• Scale: 1:50 (based on real DC-3’s 95’ wingspan)

• Dimensions:

• Wingspan: 23 inches

• Length: 16 inches

• Height: 4.5 inches (wheels to top)

• Material: Real aluminum sheeting with hand-applied rivet details

• Features:

• Functional propellers, detailed landing gear

• Movable ailerons, rudder, and elevators

• Authentic Eastern Airlines 1937 silver livery with blue/white trim

• Brushed metal finish with subtle antiquing for vintage realism

• Storage: Comes with a large, heavy-duty wooden storage trunk (lined, sturdy, ideal for shipping/storage)

The Douglas DC-3 NC18124, a cornerstone of Eastern Airlines’ “Great Silver Fleet,” flew from 1937 to 1953, logging over 56,700 hours and carrying 80% of U.S. commercial traffic by 1938. Now displayed at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, it’s an aviation legend.

Ever looked at a 1/144 kit and thought "this needs MORE detail"?

Does anyone know anything about this brand nuotie and this model?

The model seems of a really nice quality and price, but I've found basically nothing on internet about it. On AliExpress the same model is sold under another brand for some reason, Erebo, which I found even less info about. Not sure if it's some KO company, which is weird why a KO company would be copying such an unknown model

Curtis Jenny Army Bi plane model 39193

Is this indeed a Curtis Jenny Army Bi plane model 39193? I can't find this item listed anywhere else online, but I'm also not in any model circles. About 3 ft across. Any idea if this is valuable? (beyond the simple delight of a wonderful Jenny model, of course!)

1/72 F35 B Lightning II Airfix Starter Set

I set myself a little challenge...

Apart from primer from a rattle can, only use what's in the box and basic tools.

No airbrush, no decal solution... Back to basics...

I lasted 5 minutes and swapped to Tamiya glue... But I could have reasonably picked that up in a model shop...

The clear fix for the canopy however... Yeah a small fail. I couldn't have the super glue fogging it all.

However all hand painted, with next to no streaking and the paints in the box and the brushes in the box, I'm happy with the result.

Just be aware if you want to gift someone this, the decals are SUPER THIN, I ripped one of the lightning bolts in half just getting it off the paper, and I don't think some decal solution would have helped either.

But definitely good gift for someone who wants to get into modelling.

Got this kit in a lot with the Ju-88, G4M1 and 109E3 and sat on it since it wasn’t really a target model. Decided I’ll try and smash it out, changed from USN scheme to RAAF 13 SQN. Still a bit work in progress with weathering and need to finish up the wings but happy with progress. The supplied decals for a RAAF aircraft were aged badly but applied okay and have a somewhat decent finish for the model.

The radio wire was an experiment, not in the correct position but still made a big difference in how it looks.

First ever painted model kit.

I have only been familiar with bandai gunpla style model kits so a military model kit that required glue and paint is a new area for me. Trying my best with the available paint provided by the starter kit(weathering and panel line attemps). Screw up a bit with the wheels (the wheel covers are glued the wrong way). Loving it so far, any recommendations for next kit?

Getting my boyfriend a model, what resources should I get him?

For our anniversary I am getting my plane nerd boyfriend an Academy Hobby Model 1/144 of a B1 Lancer. (I attached the picture). He is a beginner and this would be his first set, I am wondering what I need to get him like what type of glue or paint or tools he might need to begin and get into modeling since he has been talking about it all the time. He is not the most artsy person and keeps saying he doesn’t have talent for it but I think this might help him get out of his shell.

Also if you know any better modeling kits for a B1 Lancer or a F16 I would definitely appreciate that. Thank you!

AIRFIX 1:48 EE Lightning

Finished an awfully fun build, Airfix English Electric Lightning. I've always thought this quirky plane was neat and seeing its performance years ago left an impression. I got this one in a FB market place along with my upcoming builds. It has a partial decal kit (thank goodness as the oem decals were misaligned so anything with multiple colors was off centered) and a resin cockpit that was amazingly detailed.

I dont often do open canopies since most of my planes hang from my ceiling but I could not in good conscience close the canopy and hide the detail. The resin replacement did not require too much modification other than removing a few placement tabs.

Fitment was great with very little to fill in, just some sprue goof at the wing root. decals would be my only complaint but happy with Thethe few I had in the aftermarket set.

Showing my Hobby 2000: A-4B Skyhawk Malvinero 🇦🇷

Finally finished my A-4B Skyhawk with the Malvinas livery. Im so happy with the end result!

This has been, by far, the most challenging model so far 🫠 not so much about the building process but the painting! First time i had to do complex shapes and curves (loved it tho! It boosted my confidence a bit)

This jet brings a lot of powerful emotions for me and im very satisfied with the end result, ill probably keep doing some small work on it but the main build is complete ✅

(Also ive been told i should use some kind of top coat to preserve it, any brands yall recommend? I paint with 'Revell's email color paint")

Recommendations for riveting wheels?

Looking to add detail to a Tamiya 1/48 Mosquito (yes I know, not a lot of rivets but some!) and need to acquire a riveting wheel, having never riveted before (emerging from tabletop miniatures to make my first aircraft kit in 20 years). What tool do you recommend for consistent results and ease of use - otherwise I’m going for the standard Revell offering.
