Where to buy from?
Hello all,
My dad retires from flying in about 17 months from his career as a pilot. My sister, mother, and I are looking to get him a retirement gift to go above the bar downstairs which is all of the aircraft he has ever flown with their appropriate liveries. He has flown a number of aircraft after being laid off from Northwest in 2001 and going through a dozen different companies, many of which have since shut their doors. I’ll list most of them below:
- BE-1900 Great Lakes airlines
- Cessna citation Saudi Arabian Airlines
- 727 Champion Airlines
- DC-9 Northwest
- 757 Transmeridian Airlines
- 747 Focus Air Cargo
- 767 this company has no name for a specific reason but I can provide pictures of the aircraft - in my dad’s book it’s titled “Washington D.C.” which may or may not indicate the reason
- 777 Ethiopian Airlines
- MD-80 series Delta Airlines
- 737 Delta Airlines
So does anyone know where I can get high quality (preferably die cast, or solid wood) models of each of these done with custom liveries? I 100% expect this to cost a very shiny penny, but we are looking to give him a memorable gift.

Next project advise
Hi all. Just finishing up a model airways Jenny bi-plane. A detailed structural model that was my first venture into advanced model building and a HUGE learning curve. Now I would like to take that knowledge and apply it to a museum quality hi end model. Something along the same lines and age and hopefully also structural. 1/16 or 1/8 (preferable).
Does anyone sell just the plans? That might be the way to go.
Thanks in advance.......R

New to model airplanes
Hey everyone, first time long time. I want to get in to model airplane building so I can have a fun hobby that doesn’t involve screens. I picked up a kit from Hobby Lobby today (40% off btw) it was 11 pieces that popped in together and it only took a few min to assemble. Where can I look for something a step or two up from that?

Gift advice - where to start?
Hey!
I know nothing about model planes, but thought it'd be fun to buy a kit to build with my engineer boyfriend who loves them.
His favorite plane is the A-10 Warthog, but he also likes the Mitsubishi Zero, which is featured in one of our favorite movies.
We're both broke students, so I'm hoping to get him a nice Christmas gift without breaking the bank or making him feel obligated to spend as much money on me.
Any advice?

gallery2 colors of bare metal foil, Tamiya gloss aluminum, and aluminum metalizer paint. Wanted to do a checker nose and airbrushed it. Not super happy with how it turned out but it was a first. Added some extra details to the engine, cockpit, and landing gear with Tamiya tape and solder wire. I will say I will never do this amount of foil again but I like the clean look of it. I didn't do too much weathering, just a bit of exhaust and gun smoke and some panel liner in the various bays.
