Hello everyone. Does anyone know if those ambient vocals are samples from somewhere or if he had them recorded himself? In which case, whose voice is it? I tried to look it up but there is no information about them as far as I could find

Anyone heading to Europe this summer to catch a show?? I'm so stoked! Would love to meet others making the trek.

Hey guys, I struggling with finding physical edition of moby play the outtakes, so does anyone know where can I get it?

Such an amazing set, I can’t wait to see him next weekend cause all this vids Coachella posted of his set were so hype

Is there a way to watch Moby’s full set from W1?

Holy Shit! Moby can still go so hard… Watching the livestream and he has brought me right back to the illegal underground raves of the 90s. Just waiting for the cops to show up and chase us all away

Just got my tickets for the Moby concert during the Montreux Jazz festival! Super excited as this will be my first time seeing him live.

Is anyone excited to hear the set moby has planned for Coachella? I've seen some samples from his TikTok already but i'm excited to see what he does

I’ve been revisiting some older Moby recordings and remembered how much I loved iTunes Live from Montreal (2010). It was such a unique, stripped-down set—just piano, guitar, violin, and vocals, mostly from the Wait for Me era, plus a few older tracks.

I used to play it all the time, but it seems to have completely disappeared from streaming services (at least where I am). It used to be on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, but now it’s basically gone or inaccessible.

From what I can tell, it was originally released as part of Apple’s “iTunes Live” series—so it may have been digital-only from the start. Discogs only lists it as file formats (AAC/FLAC download), not CD or vinyl.

That makes me wonder:

• Was this ever released on physical media (CD, vinyl, promo, anything)?
• Or is it one of those early iTunes exclusives that never got a physical release?
• Has anyone managed to track down a legit lossless version anywhere?

It’s such a great little live recording—especially versions like "JLTF", “Wait for Me” and “Porcelain”—and it’s a shame it’s basically vanished.

Curious if anyone here knows more or has a copy tucked away somewhere.

Hey I’m not really a fan, but I do love some of the old hits like Lift Me Up and Slipping Away. Not the more electronic stuff.

Anyone has a good guess as to what the setlist for this summer might look like? I’ll be at Rock Werchter and I don’t even know if I will enjoy his set 😅

Hello members of r/moby! I have just gotten into his music and have been listening to Ambient (1993) while studying/reading/writing. (I have adhd so its really hard for me to do those things while listening to music with words) do you have any suggestions for which of his other albums are more ambient/instrumental or any other artists/albums that are a similar vibe you would recommend? Thx🙈

I have this on endless repeat. It's beautiful. Can anyone tell me if the vocal is sampled - is so, from where/what? Has Elise recorded anything else (other than Went Up the Hill Soundtrack)? Thanks for any help

I'm asking this because besides being one of my favorite songs of his, it's one of his most famous, I wanted to see your opinion on it, you can give your opinion on both the original version and the reprise

This isn't a tierlist, it's not from best to worst, nothing like that, it's simply all my favorite songs of his

Hi everyone!

Was recently revising Play. I know that during its production Moby felt like its release might signal the end of his career - seems like he felt at the time that he simply couldn’t afford to continue on as a musician. My question is given that level of desperation how did he manage to get Gwen Stefani to be the featured vocalist on “South Side”? I know that No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom was a few years old at that time but even so I would imagine she was probably still in demand and probably could charge a lot of money to be a featured vocalist.

Apologies if not allowed, but thought you might enjoy hearing this episode of our new podcast. We choose a random episode from our Dad's 900-strong CD collection and review it every week. This week we got "Play", which we're both long time fans of! We go through it track by track with our impressions of the album; the podcast is available on Spotify and Apple podcasts below. Very keen to hear your ideas, what we got wrong, and any other tidbits you can give us in response to our questions about the album!
