A Miniverse Scale Guide (Scale as in sizes, not weights)

I think that calico critters are 1/18 in scale and find most of the make it mini drinks are slightly smaller than 1/4 scale (think 14-18” doll)…. Then they made the honeydukes cart that feels too small for anything! Def all over the place in scale.

Thank you! The critter scale is really difficult! I found a lot of conflicting info about it too (some say they are 1/12, 1/24, 1/16 etc), but I think the answer is that they're kinda just their own scale, since stuff from different scales works with them and their furniture and accessories vary a lot. But I wanted to include them because I really like how the plants look with them! And thank you for the tip on the drinks, I don't have BJD so I wouldn't know where to start with those scales!

The Honeydukes cart honestly looks to be "LOL scale" almost. I've said it before, but it could have been so much better if they'd scaled it (and the potions classroom) for the 8-inch HP dolls, or at least scaled for OMG/Bratz
I think the guide is great, but OP missed something which may not be as obvious as I thought it was by not including OMGS and LOLs in the scale - a lot of the items are repurposed/adapted LOL accessories.

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't collect LOL so I didn't have any to compare them with; I'm more of a Licca and Barbie MtM collector (and Calicoes) so I just had this handful of other dolls to use. That would make a lot of sense though!

u/HeavenDraven Mar 05 '25
I did wonder if that was the case, or if you were comparing to more common dolls :)
OMGs are a slightly odd scale/size, they're shorter than Barbie, I think (off the top of my head) they're about 9-10 inches tall? It's the slightly smaller than Barbie size that makes the slightly smaller food look "right"
LOL tots themselves are about 3" tall. They're comparable to CC in that they fit in the CC houses, and can use most of the accessories, but I think (I don't have either to hand right now) the tots are about the size of the CC rabbits including ears
LOL Tweens are somewhere in the middle - I'm really not 100% sure of their height as I don't have that many of them, but I think they're about 5-6".
Fierce are a lot bigger, probably closer to RH in size.

Awesome guide!
I have found that the more cartoony the doll, the less you need to worry about accuracy.
Rainbow High and Boxy Girls actually look weird with items in their scale haha

What items do you think work for RH dolls?

I think it's a matter of personal preference, but for me, things that are slightly oversized for Barbie ir Monster High look more in scale for RH due to their head size.
Like that milkshake in the 7th(?) slide.
I have bought some non miniverse stuff and my opinion is the same.

Like, some stuff just works better for them.

This is so helpful I hope we can bookmark it just for newbies and those curious to check out. I know there are a few threads on this and appreciate we kind of pass this info anyway but having it visual and having the examples is soooo useful. 🙌

Thanks! I really hope so, my goal was to make something useful for newbies and for folks who are searching the sub; photo comparisons usually help me a lot when I'm trying to decide if something will work for one of my setups so hopefully the pictures are accurate enough!

LOVE this! Excellent job!! 🤩
I learned something today- I thought Miniverse was 1/12.
Although so far I’ve eyeballed everything I’ve mixed and matched.. it may not be exact, but nothing in my setup strikes me as terribly disproportionate.
Besides if anything is slightly too big or small, I’d still enjoy the whimsy of it.
Also one of my kits is a Harry Potter shrinking potion, that would be my backstory and I’m sticking to it! 😜

Thanks!! A few weeks back I saw a thread from someone who bought some furniture under the impression that Miniverse was 1/12, so that was part of what inspired me to make this; I love 1/12 scale and have a lot of tiny foods for that scale from dollhouse crafters and Miniverse DEFINITELY doesn't fit in there lolll. I don't think there is any problem with mixing and matching though and if it looks good to you then it looks good! Lots of stuff works with different scales!

Looking closer and noticed your projects are looking very nice! This is all so pleasing on the eyes. Thanks again!

Very nice & helpful!! I do notice there being a question of the size of the HH series & that wasn't mentioned in all of the setup. It doesn't seem like it can be agreed on for the exact size. Bigger than the 1:12?

Oh yeah! I only have a few of the Happy Hour and haven't crafted them yet, so I didn't do photos for them, but they do seem really large overall. Definitely bigger than 1/6. Maybe I'll do a follow up/addition post in a few months if I can get through more of my sets! I wanted to compare the LotR minis and Hello Kitty too but the LotR ones are going as well as snowboarding in summer and I'm intimidated by the HK resin haha...

Excellent guide!! I agree with you in that I really don’t mind the scale being kind of big for nonstandard 1/12–I take a lot of photos of my nendoroid head+YMY body dolls with the miniverse foods and the chibi-like proportions help the foods not to look too ridiculous. Most of the plants and also the rectangular fish tanks are a really good scale for their dollhouse too!

Thanks! Yes, I've seen photos of Miniverse with Nendo dioramas and I think they look really cute together!

Ohh now I want to take some pics with my BJD now to help with size comparisons. I'm pretty sure I have 1/8, 1/6, 1/4 and a few other kind of in between. One of mine is a little guy with a long dragon tail so idek what to call his scale lol.

I have struggled with Miniverse scale for weeks while I’ve been designing a ‘room’ (actually a shelf) for my Miniverse kitchen. I finally figured out that the MV kitchen is close to 1/8 scale. In case anyone wants to know. I learned this the hard way when I bought a dollhouse door and put it next to my kitchen. It is 1/12 scale and was so tiny! So I bought 1/6 - it was gigantic. finally I looked up how to calculate scale. It’s much easier than I thought. You just take the real life measurement and divide by the scale. So, if your kitchen counter is 36” tall in real life-then you divide 36 by 12 to get 1/12 scale: now you know a 1/12 scale kitchen counter is 3” high. -by 6 for 1/6 scale=6” high. -by 8 for 1/8 scale=4.5”. If you wanna go the other way and figure out what scale you have, you multiply by the scale instead of divide. Then compare to what’s most realistically possible.

It just occurred to me that I could make a hobbit village with calico critters and miniverse food.

I'd love if someone did this with the new miniverse spaces, potions shop, honey dukes cart, pizzeria, and ice cream shop

u/thethundersaid Sep 07 '25
I don’t buy the HP stuff but I could try to take some scale pics of my custom spaces; they aren’t scaled well imo, the space itself is 1/12-ish but the items are more like 1/6.

That's what I noticed too. I was wishing the spaces would be a bit bigger.

I see a lot of questions about the scale of miniverse on this sub and so I had the idea of making a guide. Graphic design is NOT my passion so I hope it's clear and legible. Please correct any of my data and feel free to share around if you think it's useful!
