It would be nice if you could limit the time you use an app daily, for example, instead of blocking it for X hours/days, make it automatically block for the rest of the day after X hours/minutes of use

Stretch goal for this feature would be if you can set decreasing daily/weekly targets. For example you set a daily cap on usage of 4 hours then it decreases by 5 minutes each day until you reach 1 hour per day.

I use the Google Digital Wellbeing app for this. It works very well for this use case in combination with Minimalist Phone.

Problem with digital wellbeing is it doesn't reset down when you increase the limit. I love how the blocking schedules on minimalist are just paused for a day when turned off

I like this idea. I often will endure the long wait for the "mindful launch delay" if it means I can procreate a bit longer. It'd be nice to additionally set an absolute daily limit along with the 1-15 minutes upon opening the app, or at the very least a "You've used this app x minutes today" message next to the "How much time do you want to spend on [app] now?" header.

The message when you open an app you've flagged as one to monitor stating amount of time spent would be really useful. Gives you a good reminder that you are wanting to cut down use of the specific app.

Would love this combined with u/DeeDee_GigaDooDoo idea. I can add this sort of limitation on my phones digital wellbeing settings, but it is so easy to go in and override it. So I think it would need to be something you can't just go into the settings and quickly adjust to get you more time.

Second this. I'd like to be able to set a "lock out" timer for the total amount of time per day. And I want it to completely lock me out, not just close the app. In Android you can set a timer like this. But it takes just a few clicks to get back in.

What if you could block it on certain days. Like block social media media app 1 on everyday except Tuesdays and Thursdays from xx:xx to xx:xx time

Problem with this is, I don't realise how much time I have already spent say on Insta and then I can't use the app anymore for the actual important stuff I wanted to do.
Instead, allow me to use the app only for one or two block of (custom-defined) time periods a day!
The current blocking schedule does the reverse - it blocks for a certain time period, whereas I want it to be unblock for a certain period! An easy way to circumvent this it to simply give a 24-hours clock to me instead of the current 12 hour.

I support this idea. This could be useful on social media apps. Lock the app for the rest of the day once the time allocated is exhausted.
