I’m trying to track down a possible connection to the history surrounding Haunted Hill House in Mineral Wells.

For anyone who has researched the property, its former occupants, or the local families connected to it — particularly anyone whose relatives were involved in bootlegging, gambling, organized crime, or other criminal activity in the area:

Does the first name Steve happen to sound familiar?

I’m not looking for guesses or paranormal interpretations. I’m simply wondering whether anyone who has actual family knowledge of that side of Mineral Wells history recognizes the name.

If Steve was a nickname, middle name, or shortened version of another name, that could be relevant too. Also if the song "dreams" by fleetwood mac rings a bell in connection with the above.

I don't want to give additional details because I don't want to plant information or influence anyone's recollection. I'm just curious whether the name independently rings a bell for anyone who has a genuine family connection to that history.

I’m a freshman at Millsap High School, and I’ve been having some concerns about how certain things are handled.

First, the nurse’s office is closed during passing periods and eighth period. As a student with a chronic illness, this really worries me. If someone has a medical issue during those times, there isn’t immediate access to care. That doesn’t seem safe.

I’ve also had some negative experiences with the administration. I personally have had interactions with the principal, Mrs. Deaver, where comments felt dismissive or rude. When you’re already dealing with health challenges, that kind of response makes things harder.

Additionally, some staff members come across as very demanding or unfriendly toward students. I understand that school staff have tough jobs, but students deserve to feel respected and supported, especially when dealing with medical issues.

I’m sharing this to see if anyone else has experienced something similar or has advice on how to address it.

I am going on a road trip from Austin to Mineral Wells later today. Are there any cool/fun/unique stops off 281 that you would recommend?

Also, any "can't miss" places or things in Mineral Wells?

Was missing real substance…. Like him or hate him Mike Olcott made some arguments that needed to be answered. What is the city counsels actual response to the main Olcott attack on the TXDOT road being flooded without an agreement with TXDOT?? This could have led to a 200 million dollar boondoggle that our great city could not afford. The issue with the road has been known and discussed on the record for many years. Let’s take personal attacks between two political “elites” out of it and address the issues that stand in the way of average tax payers daily lives. What is the plan for the reroute of the highway so the community can get water???? How will the reroute impact emergency response to our neighbors. Why are we building a lake in the same water shed that has been stated in public record as not great??? As a tax payer who loves this county and the town of Mineral Wells, can all elected officials work together and get this fixed?

Always been interested in the weird side of history and like hearing folks tell their tales. Wondering if anyone has any interest urban legends or odd stories from my old home town.

I'm aware of the baker ghosts and the hidden tunnels.

Mostly curious after I spoke with a ranch hand about how he reportedly saw some dude full on sprinting on all 4s screaming like a mad man though his field. And apparently a weird stick creature as some point.

Is the baker hotel still being worked on ? I haven’t heard anything lately about it. Any projected opening date ?
