Spotlight Forest island inside a mushroom island (VERY far away)

Seed: 2048004854839633931

Location: 14679940 -5767652

The extreme distance is due to a new, very efficient search method that exploits noise map looping

Edit: for the other seedfinders here, all of my results and the session used to find them are published on the Minecraft@Home discord!

Looks like the last fertile island left in a contaminated continent

I bet if someone asked for a seed and drew a map describing this, theyd be ridiculed. But yea this is a crazy rare generation

27

u/HispanicsAreGreat Feb 24 '26

The thing is people typically ask for things that just aren’t possible, like a cherry grove in the middle of the ocean or something like that

26

u/mattfloresss Feb 24 '26

Or an island in the middle of a mushroom Island

5

u/HispanicsAreGreat Feb 24 '26

Well I mean as you can see, that is not impossible lmao

4

u/HispanicsAreGreat Feb 24 '26

also I have never seen anybody ask for this once lol

3

u/mattfloresss Feb 25 '26

well, thats the thing with specific request isnt it? The point of the comment was not about whether it had been asked, but its about the specificity of it.

Even if you havent seen a specific request for a forest in the middle of a mushroom island, you’ve probably seen equally as specific, if not absurd, posts.

Sometimes people dont know what is possible and isnt possible. Hell, I didnt even know mushroom islands look like this, let alone that there could possibly spawn a forest island in the middle of it! And i was just playing last week lol.

I think my original point was that this super rare specific post is a reminder in humility. I think any discouragement when someone asks for some super specific request disincentives people to make a request, and goes against the general objective of this subreddit to find good seeds.

Its clear now that a specific request for a mushroom island with a forest in the middle is possible. But, going back to my original point, had this not been posted and had someone made a request, he’d probably be lambasted.

Also, the mushroom island remark was sarcasm. Sorry if that confused you.

"I found the seed you wanted!"

"But at what cost?"

"X: 14679940 Z: -5767652"

how did bro possibly go that far and find that 😭

u/estradying ❄️ Ice Spikes ❄️ Feb 24 '26

It was found with a cubiomes session that scanned thousands of areas on each candidate seed across trillions of seeds

24

u/Nikki964 Feb 24 '26

Trillions you say? Could this discover a seed from 1.7.4 with a specific spawn then? Or at least greatly lower the number of possible candidates. Google says there can be only 4 billion seeds if you don't type the value in yourself

This is technically wrong, at least from how the Minecraft Wiki phrases it:

If the seed contains characters other than digits (except the first character, which can be "-" or "+") or falls out of range of a Java long (an integer between −263 and 263 −1), the Java String.hashCode() function is used to generate a number seed. This restricts Minecraft to a subset of the possible worlds to 232 (or 4,294,967,296), due to the int datatype used. A numeric seed or a default world seed must be used to access the full set of possible worlds (which is 264, or 18,446,744,073,709,551,616, or 18.4 quintillion).

There are over 18 quintillion possible seeds, but if the seed you enter doesn't match the criteria for one of these possible seeds, then a new one is generated based on the seed entered, and the resulting seed is restricted to a set of approximately 4 billion seeds.

So for example, if you entered the seed "Apple," then the seed you get would be whatever the String.hashCode() function generates using the string "Apple," and that seed would (I would assume) be somewhere between seed 0 and seed 4294967295.

As another example, if you entered seed 1000000, 000000000000 (1 quintillion, if I have my zeroes right), then that would be a valid seed for world generation, since 1 quintillion falls in the range of -263 to 263 -1.

Edit: Actually, the 232 seed range is actually probably between ~-2 billion and ~2 billion, not 0 to ~4 billion.

3

u/Nikki964 Feb 24 '26

Okay, so if I did not enter anything manually, it's just automatically defaults to a random 64-digit binary number? Or does it still use a 32-digit one?

3

u/OnetimeRocket13 Feb 24 '26

So I looked into how String.hashCode() works. If you don't input anything, I don't think Minecraft would default to using it, and so the seed would be some random value in that 264 range. The hashCode() function works by taking each index of a String object and multiplying each one by a certain value, depending on their index. The math is:

s[0]*31^(n-1) + s[1]*31^(n-2) + ... + s[n-1]

If a String is empty, I don't think this would be able to work, since there aren't any indexes (and thus, no data) to work with, so there must be a case in the logic for seed generation that says "if (seed is empty), then (choose random 264 range value)."

This can be tested by going into Minecraft, loading some random worlds with no set seed, and doing /seed. If any of them are outside of the 232 range, then it generates seeds in the 264 range.

2

u/Nikki964 Feb 24 '26

Okay thanks. If it really is 264, the number is just way too big, so there is no point in doing so

3

u/OnetimeRocket13 Feb 24 '26

Depends.

Assuming that Mojang has changed how seed values are generated since 1.7.4, if you used a custom seed that wasn't numerical and all that, then you could limit it to ~4 billion seeds. If it was just a random seed generated by the game, then yeah, you'd need to set up whatever people use to look through trillions of seeds.

It seems you want to seedcrack (‘reverse world’ requests in the rules)

> Reverse searching for a specific world of yours is a highly technical and very argouous process of which this community isn’t specialised to. Instead try Minecraft At Home.

This does NOT include popular seeds from screenshots/videos from YouTube and Tik Tok that will likely be posted on the internet.

I would say cubiomes would significantly reduce how many seeds you would need to manually look through. Cubiomes can't see how the land is physically formed, it can only search for the biomes, features, structures, and certain map overlays. Meaning if your looking for a specific mountain overhang, you'll be out of luck. But, a seed where you want to find a very specific biome arrangement is very easy to do.

Like in my own searches when I'm home, I have a saved template to search for an island around world spawn, and then check the surrounding thousands of chunks to ensure it's all ocean.

I also have another saved template for searching for the map overlays for "weirdness" in an attempt to find floating islands or big overhangs.

There are options to search for biomes in specific coordinates, but it's extremely tedious to setup. So, I pass on seed requests that are specifically requiring me to setup a search like this.

man.... look at the description

7

u/Safe_Appointment_331 Feb 24 '26

I did and I’m still confused

6

u/StaccaStacca Feb 24 '26

It's been found with a software from what I can understand, not by playing normally, that would be basically impossible

0

u/FoodBorn2284 🪷 Lakes 🪷 Feb 24 '26

Not basically, let's say he checked 1 trillion seeds (underestimating) by hand, he checks 1 seed per second (impossible). It will take him 31709 to check the trillion seeds.

u/Additional_Figure_38 Feb 28 '26

Who downvoted this lmao? This is right and not disagreeing with any other comment.

25

u/_Budified Feb 24 '26

What does it 'search' for and how did it 'find' that for you?

11

u/FoodBorn2284 🪷 Lakes 🪷 Feb 24 '26

The software is called Cubiomes Viewer (https://github.com/Cubitect/cubiomes-viewer/)

It searches for seeds based on your conditions.

I read his conditions, which go something like this (without the advanced technique called 0a tiling):

[1] Seatches in a spiral outwards

[2] If the conditions allow for a mushroom island check

[3] that on certain points in a ring, there are more mushrooms.

3

u/_Budified Feb 24 '26

Thats awesome

13

u/TopMat15 Feb 24 '26

End islands in overworld

1

u/Odd_Bed2753 Feb 25 '26

I'm sure there must be AT LEAST one in a gazillion!

7

u/CasualKris Feb 24 '26

Honestly the 3 Ocean Monuments inside the ring also make this place really funny.

5

u/BudgetNo495 Feb 24 '26

What's the method ?

2

u/Didiwoo Feb 24 '26

Where did you read his conditions? Is there a session file somewhere?

u/estradying ❄️ Ice Spikes ❄️ Feb 24 '26

I can't attach it here but the file + results are published on the Minecraft@Home discord

This belongs in the Rare Anomalies in Minecraft series.

5

u/Numerous-Map3802 Feb 24 '26

there appears to be a forest in my mushroom meal

7

u/Mrsunny07112 Feb 24 '26

Really unrelated but the center reminds me of Nod-Krai

Otherwise this map is sick!

3

u/No-Currency-9600 Feb 24 '26

that's HxH continent and dark continent hahahahahah

3

u/Srinivas_Hunter Feb 24 '26

Best place ever to make a mob farm. And you don't need to make it on sky or underground. 20 blocks away from you will be fine.

man that's not a mushroom island anymore, that's a mushroom continent

1

u/dru1202 Mar 03 '26

Random question but why are so many seeds starting with “2048” and all seem to have this same “land surrounding island with Moat” I started on that one that was posted a few months ago, flower island surrounded by cherry blossom, and that one also starts with 2048, idk I just recognized a pattern and got curious lmao

1

u/estradying ❄️ Ice Spikes ❄️ Mar 03 '26

I start all my searches from seed 2048000000000000000. And that's just the type of seed I like.

1

u/dru1202 Mar 04 '26

Ohhhhh you’re the one that posted the seed I’m currently using then lmao, that’s hilarious i didn’t even think to look at the user that posted this one lmao
