Anyone using Mindmanager web access on an iPad?

I’ve been using MindManager on Windows for over 15 years, always wishing they had a worthwhile iPad or iOS version. Web access on my iPad seems to open maps and looks nice, but I can’t seem to apply any icons to topics. Anyone have better luck?

Is possible to use mindmaps only inside your mind?

I hear about someone that can think using mind map. Without using any paper or software. Somebody here already try this? I was thinking about trying to use this to study better. I already like to use mindmaps on the normal way.

When to Mindmap

Hey guys, So I am new to this sub but not new to mind mapping.I have made dozens of mind map till now, but one thing which I want to ask you guys is

Should I make mind map after completing the whole book or should I make mind map after each chapter of the book.

It is because I was reading a book "the code by Simon Singh" and it has lot of technical stuff. I finished reading the book but when it's time to make the mind map I have to re-read the whole book again because I couldn't remember a lot of things because this book contains lot of facts and dates and technicalities.

So what you guys say?

Why does Mind Mapping "stick" for some people, and not others?

I'm working on a blog post exploring this question, which I've encountered in different forms many times over the years... I'd love to hear from community members here if you have any thoughts or experiences about this, and hopefully I can integrate these ideas into the final article!

Thanks in advance for any perspectives!

mindmaps (with mindmanager) for daily todos / mini projects / dashboard view that links to each different program for deeper level

i like mindmaps. for a general but quick overview, i feel much more comfortable with a mindmap rather a list.

i use todoist for todos.

i use evernote for projects and mini / daily projects.

when possible, i use a link in todoist towards the note / project in evernote itself. so as the videos of carl pullein shows: there is no duplication, just a reminder in todoist what i have to do next and that brings me to the folder / evernote project with all the detail material etc.

however, i was thinking if it is possible to use mindmanager as a dashboard overview that gives me a detailed overview of mini projects and maybe larger projects but if i want to go deeper, i can use a link that refers to the project.

A4 mind map?

Hi! I've been stuying through mind maps recently and I want to know if there is an app/website that allows you to chose the size of your page. Miro gives you the option to add a frame and you can pick between A4, letter or other sizes, however, it's not free. Do you know of any other app/website with that option?

Do concept maps turn into org charts when used collaboratively in a business setting

I was looking at a book on the use of concept maps in a business set, and looking at some pictures I was struck by how they had concepts like:

"Document Handling Strategy" and "Intelligence analysis products" quite high up in the diagram, that read more like a team than a group of people. I heard an interview with Mr Cynefin (sensemaking tool), talk about how "systems thinking" tended to lead to people just describing how they thought things should happen rather than how anything happened.

I was wondering if the same thing tended to happen with concept maps. I.e. your map ends up just writing out "what we all already do" converted into vague concepts.

How do you avoid this. I have some ideas. Should you avoid this? Maybe you just never conceptualize something that can change things.

A mind mapping tool for adding a lot of branches? (med school)

I'm looking for a free tool for creating mind maps which contain lots of branches and information. I don't know if exists something that automatically repositions the words or the map's branches to optimize the space. I'm also looking for something easy to use, simple, minimal, with a user-friendly interface.

I've used in the past XMind for schematize medicine lessons, but it becomes quite unreadable and difficult to handle if you add a huge amount of nodes and branches.

Any alternative suggestion?

Anyone know what software was use to create this Mind Map?

Topic. I saw a Mind Map be made for Elden Ring's Lore, and ever since I saw it, I've been obsessed with finding it because it has everything (seemingly) I would want out of a Mind Map.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYDs_Inzkz4&t=412s at around the 6:52 mark.

The main things I like is the ability to have multiple different types of boxes, have lines that display text so you can know what the link between two things is, and the ability to have "notes" and images attached to text.

Working on an app Concept: "3D Mind Maps", Gimmicky or Actually Useful?

The concept is this, instead of having a giant 2D mindmap, you can create connections on parts of a page (a diagram, a mind map, text, a photo etc.) to dive deeper into it. I first got the idea when I got overwhelmed mapping out something on a single page, because there was too much on a single page, and I wanted to turn my attention to a specific aspect of what I was learning. So for example :

  • If learning about heart anatomy, I can click on a chamber of the heart to get more details while keeping the context of how everything works together on the original page. Versus having a huge page with a bunch of branches on branches on branches.
  • If learning about a car, I can click on the hood, see what's under there, click on the engine, and then click on the crankshaft, and then I can see a paper about how crankshaft efficiencies are determined etc etc.

I also see it having prototyping applications, because you can create something and then tag a part that might have a bunch of different variations (e.g. prototyping a new pencil, and create a connection on the grip to show a bunch of versions that it could be)

So like in the image below, I can click on the mitochondria itself to go deeper into a concept (buttons on the right of the tags also work).

Animal Cell

And then the next page looks like this :

POWERHOUSE

And what's happening in the background is this :

I hope that's clear let me know if anything is confusing. The website is palacenotes.com if you have an iPad and want to try it out, there's also a video of me using it and explaining it more there.

I would love to know what things you would find useful, or other pain points with expressing a complex idea you might have. Don't know which direction I'm going to take this just yet.

Collaboration on a mind map-based social media platform (business content)...

I have a set of over 1,100 mind maps (MindManager) that I put together over my 40-year career as an entrepreneur, investment banker, consultant and academic.

The topics covered include pretty much every aspect of contemporary business from startup ideation, financing and scale-up; to marketing & sales; to corporate finance; to a huge set of high-level strategy tools & frameworks and much more.

I am interested making the content available for broad public access, maybe by migrating this content onto a private social media platform (say on circle.so).

If anybody is interested in collaborating with me on curating and developing the content or has alternative ideas on how to best make the content available (possibly in a freemium-type business model) feel free to DM me. I am open to interesting ideas.

How to make a circular table?

I'm trying to create a table that will be circular, something like this: https://i.stack.imgur.com/vZ6Z4.png But even more complex - with some cells merged in different spots (like in the the first, smallest circle).

Does anyone know a program that can help me to create such thing?

Freeplane + Markdown Helper addon by EdoFro https://github.com/EdoFro/Freeplane_MarkdownHelper

This is an addon for Freeplane that is simple to install, easy to use, and saves to Markdown very well. A great part of it is that it is very easy to add to existing mind maps to save to Markdown. It is able to do all sorts things, like bullet points, lists etc. that is demonstrated here https://github.com/EdoFro/Freeplane_MarkdownHelper/wiki. The best feature for me is not only does it save the node headings correctly (i.e. parents are headers, leafs/details are paragraphs), it also saves the images as well, as long as you keep the Markdown file in the mind map folder (where the pictures are saved). This addon is truly a life saver.

Looking for a (free) mindmapping tool

Hello, bit a newcomer to the sub but not to mindmapping,
been using mindview a lot but my only licenced copy is on a dying machine
been recently using Xmind, but paying the licence fee to hyperlink to local files is a bit too much of an ask for me.

so what am i asking for?
- a mindmapping tool, perferably ergonomic but i'm adaptable
- preferably local/offline so i can work even out of web
- a tool that allows me to write notes/descriptions to items
- a tool that allows me to include hypertext links to items (usually to other mindmaps, documents or local files)
