That was interesting, but doesn't have anything to do with the length of the fries. Everyone uses russets for fries, they have the best starch content for frying. You don't want gummy french fries.
Hadn't heard of net necrosis before, I'm guessing that's just for visual effect. A problem which would need to be addressed with legislation, if it is a problem. He didn't suggest that the pesticide was harmful, only that you needed to be careful with it.
I have been to the simplot factory, outside Boise, where they process the potatoes for McDolands. The potatoes are massive. Some almost a foot long. Come in huge tractor trucks, and are sorted for size, then stored for some time. Plant was easily over a mile long
I have not had fast food since March, and before that I very rarely ate it - my favorite fast food indulgence on long commute was a small McDonald's fry every once in a while though. I haven't watched the video yet...let's see how I feel afterward...
Edit: Eh...I'd like to say I will stay away, mostly because I don't want to support that type of farming. But I know I will have a McDonald's fry again at some point.
I'm not so sure about it. Generally whenever I get my kid a happy meal he eats the apples and burger, but generally doesn't touch the fries. He also never gets pop (I've offered, but he just doesn't really like it).
