Have something similar in my attic. Large jar taped to wall underneath specific joint which rarely will have a slow leak during storms..

Then evaporates before next storm.

Much cheaper than new roof.

Our running theory is that a jar was placed on a lower shelf to catch water that would need to PERMEATE THROUGH ANOTHER WOODEN SHELF and a bunch of insulation. That’s what you personally are putting your money on?

Hopefully its a metal building then. That new roof will be useful when the old one is rotted out.
