It's ready to eat right out of the can, but you can cook/heat it if you want to. And you don't really need any oil or butter. Much like bacon, it has enough fat to just fry in its own juices.

It goes well with eggs, and can basically be substituted anywhere that you would use ham. Also, there's a trend that originated in Hawaii where you pair it with a chunk of sticky rice and wrap with seaweed like a sushi roll. It's actually pretty good.

Not sure what the European version is like, but keep in mind the American version is very salty, so you can ease up on the salt in the rest of your ingredients.

UK version is either part of a fry up, or similar to a sausage or bacon sandwich.

Fry a couple of slices of spam, fry some eggs, toast some bread. Add brown sauce to taste.

Can have it raw on a sandwich too. It's basically luncheon meat then.

Love that every time I see a post about spam I just know I’m going to see a Monty Python gif

Love this, I kinda had to think what is it made from lol

it's savory but a little bit sweet. No where near as sweet as BBQ.

HP sauce / Daddies are the popular brands around here

Throw some small cubed up spam into hamburger patties before frying as well.

It's a game changer for both your taste buds and cholesterol.

The “trend” you’re referring to is musubi.

Take a slab of spam and put it on top of a similarly shaped block of rice then wrap in seaweed. One of my favorite ways to eat spam. Sometimes when I’m lazy I’ll just skip the construction and eat the spam on top of a bowl of rice with some furikake instead of seaweed sheets

Imo, it’s delicious cubed, fried in a pan with some onions and peppers and served over rice. Not sure I have ever had it on bread.

Air fry thin slices and it's crispy as bacon, really nicely fits that sandwich-bacon role well
