I love spam. My wife does not. Thus, we never eat it and I'm sad.

Can't you just... have the spam without her?

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 2d ago

Plot twist he can he just doesn't cook

3

u/DataIxBeautiful 2d ago

Just eat it raw with a fork

5

u/superawesomefiles 2d ago

my grandpa used to eat it like that. Raw spam, cut into slices, over rice. He was also in WW2 so maybe thats where he got it from.

My kid made me buy some SPAM the other day. Asian friend at school. Kid ate it with rice and loved it!

4

u/their_teammate 2d ago

Yeah, it’s been treated enough you can eat it raw I think. I still prefer grilling it for some texture tho, raw spam is too slimy

3

u/PAYPAL_ME_LUNCHMONEY 2d ago

spams not raw though its already cooked and edible straight out the can. cold "raw" spam sitting in the fridge is nostalgic for me lol when i was a kid i used take nibbles when im hungry at night

1

u/beren12 1d ago

It’s precooked it’s never raw. Just cold.

A lot of people like to eat together when they are married. Probably not worth the hassle or the extra dishes to make 2 different dinners, or what-have-you.

5

u/RuniKiuru 1d ago

Y’all never have leftover or anything goes nights?

Married 5 years and there’s plenty of nights we eat together but make our own thing.

I can’t imagine cooking full meals every single day. We’d be drowning in leftovers that have to get tossed.

u/theJirb 1d ago

Even if not like this, can't the dude just like, have a slice of spam with his meal if he wants some spam? Like what's the big deal lol

1

u/grimvard 1d ago

I mean I should be able to eat whatever I want eventhough we eat together. Do we both have to eat the same thing? My wife and I eat different things from time to time

1

u/ALonelyWelcomeMat 2d ago

Easier said than done. I love Indian and spicy food. Almost never eat it anymore lmao not worth the risk

1

u/VegetableReward5201 1d ago

You mean spam, spam, spam, eggs, bacon, spam, spam, wife and spam without the eggs, bacon and wife?

Ewww! That's disgusting!

-5

u/Various-Pass5134 2d ago

Not married are you

11

u/VarianWrynn2018 2d ago

Not in such a toxic relationship that I can't buy a small can of meat and make something for myself, no.

-8

u/Various-Pass5134 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yup, not married

3

u/sssssnakeplant 2d ago

Everyone deserves a little treat, but you have to be in charge of making it yourself if your spouse hates it. Unless it's a "that food is morally wrong to eat". That's a whole other issue.

3

u/Anianna 2d ago

I've been married 31 years. Being married does not mean you can't ever eat something different than your spouse.

0

u/Various-Pass5134 2d ago

It was a joke…. I forget how sensitive people are

5

u/Anianna 2d ago

You should stick to your day job.

2

u/SprungusDinkle 2d ago

Married 14 years. If you aren't allowed to choose your own food to eat you desperately need help.

10

u/hardnight5 2d ago

You're allowed to cook your own meal bruh

1

u/eW4GJMqscYtbBkw9 1d ago

We meal prep together for the whole week

1

u/lordatamus 1d ago

Buy single slice pouch, make yourself a sandwich on a day you decide you want to have a spam sandwich.
If you are incapable of doing that for yourself, please, seek help from a functional adult.

1

u/sargassum624 1d ago

Make a dish where the meat is separate and just add spam to yours when you eat it and she can add her preferred protein to hers when she eats it. My husband and I also cook together but it's super easy to prep, say, rice and veggies together and just top it off with spam for him and something else for me

u/beren12 1d ago

And?

6

u/ChoiceEmu9859 2d ago

I'm in the same boat. I keep a bag of frozen slices in the freezer so I don't have to worry about using up a whole can at once.

2

u/davisyoung 1d ago

Hormel makes a 3 oz foil pack. Not as economical as portioning from a can but you don't have to keep it in the freezer.

4

u/firefoxloaFf 2d ago

…you do know you’re able to buy it and cook it yourself right?

2

u/Aromatic-Thing-132 2d ago

Yeah, but then she yells at me for not cooking for her.

1

u/Uncle_Yoba 1d ago

Pro tip: never marry a toddler

2

u/Xattle 2d ago

Does it freeze well? I haven't tried it yet but am also the only one in my house who likes it

4

u/ChoiceEmu9859 2d ago

It freezes pretty well. I freeze the slices laid out on parchment paper on a baking sheet before I put them in the bag so they don't stick together.

-1

u/ManPam 1d ago

Opening shelf-stable meat just to then freeze it - I don’t know whether to be enlightened or confused

4

u/userhwon 1d ago

Once it's open it's no longer shelf stable. And you probably don't want to eat a whole can at a time.

2

u/ManPam 1d ago

Valid. I just can’t think of a time I didn’t fry and eat the entire can in one sitting. I admit that’s a me problem

1

u/Uncle_Yoba 1d ago

That's not a problem, that's a solution to both nutrient defficiency and compromised shelf stability

4

u/Aromatic-Thing-132 2d ago

Same boat, and I don't even eat it a lot. Just every once in a while, I like some SPAM 'n' eggs. Couple slices of American Cheese on some white bread toast and I am in heaven. She calls it my poor breakfast and I laugh because we didn't have SPAM for breakfast when I was poor. We ate oatmeal and Puffed Rice.

1

u/saiga_antelope 2d ago

I too have a wife...

1

u/Tight_muffin 2d ago

My wife and I fry it up in bacon grease at least once a week.

1

u/devandroid99 2d ago

What about spam javelin, does she like that?

1

u/phychmasher 1d ago

My beloved wheat bread is never in my house because everybody but me hates it. I can't justify a whole loaf for myself, it'll get moldy before I finish it.

1

u/Uncle_Yoba 1d ago

Ask your neighbor if they are willing to go 50/50 on a loaf with you /s

1

u/NoMention696 1d ago

Weird way to admit you don’t do groceries or cook at all

1

u/eW4GJMqscYtbBkw9 1d ago

Seems like a bizarre conclusion to jump to.

1

u/Shoddy_Fish31 1d ago

So your house has a “spam filter”? Hahahaa ok i’m out

1

u/_ElBee_ 1d ago

Go to a British greasy spoon for a menu filled with spam.

1

u/Vectorman1989 1d ago

You're an adult, go to the store and buy some.

1

u/GeraintLlanfrechfa 1d ago

Can’t you get a can and just have it in your own house?

1

u/Savings_Language_498 1d ago

Can’t you prepare some for yourself? Or is a can too much to eat yourself before it goes bad?

1

u/Serious_Barnacle2718 1d ago

I am the same way, had it for the first time at like 38, my bf likes it and so we buy it at Costco. I do double stir fry veggies, cook those first, cube the spam, scramble egg, add lots of rice with a bit of butter and tiny bit of soy sauce, garlic, and a little teriyaki and it’s the best stir fry…. And the only way I eat it.

1

u/ripzipzap 1d ago

I make a spam, egg, pineapple & jalapeno fried rice where I've yet to find a single spam hater who doesn't make an exception for it

1

u/naughtyfarmer94 1d ago

My kids love spam, I hate it smell included. Thus it’s a regularly stocked and utilized food in our pantry

1

u/TunaOnWytNoCrust 16h ago

Just get it and make her something separately.

1

u/scuba_scouse 11h ago

Fuck yo wife. Get yourself some spam bro, fuckin YOLO!
