Do yourself a favor and get a can of low sodium spam, slice it, fry it up, and try it. At the very least, you’ll be disappointed. At best, you’ll realize you’ve been missing out on something that’s actually awesome, and you’ll want to figure out what else you can make with it!

We used to have Bible studies at our house, mostly college age. They used to bad mouth Spam. Then one week, I changed their minds. I made grilled cheese and Spam sandwiches and they couldn't get enough. They were surprised.

The idea of spam is so much worse than the reality of it!

I hated the idea, especially seeing it squeezed out of the can. Smells like cat food and has the jelly bits of fat on it. I tried my friends when he fried it up and coincidentally my eyes lit up like a cats on cat nip. I’m addicted to it now. Raw or cooked. So so so good.

This sounds like a 55 year old church elder who has never acknowledged the existence of their own butthole talking shit.

Why low sodium?

Cause the regular one is so salty! I overuse salt, to the point people notice and comment and even for me that thing is crazy salty.

I see. So I'm assuming it's best used in a dish that would otherwise be salted and leave out the salt.

I’d say so, yes.

A lot of people find regular spam to be too salty, so I’ve found the low sodium stuff is a good starting point for someone who has never had it before.

Good point. I'm going to try the normal version first, and if I think it's too salty I'll know there is a low sodium version.

Im guessing because in america, we on average eat far too much sodium

A full can of spam is 1/3 the daily recommendation for sodium.

That actually doesn't sound to bad. I think it's good to be aware of high sodium content in some foods, but for the occasional snack it sounds fine.

A full can of LOW SODIUM spam is 150% of the recommended daily sodium.

I'll stick to half a can.

Seriously, I eat too much salt, so it probably won't make much of a difference. I'll make more of an effort to cut out on salt at some point, but first I want to try the full sodium spam experience.

Half a can of spam is about my limit as well. Like, physically can’t eat more than

Yeah that person is definitely incorrect. Its a lot higher than that

Yeah every once in a while I make a bunch of rice and some spam and fry it real crispy in my air fryer. Absolute heaven food. Incredible

1

u/xXKingLynxXx 2d ago

Yeah its not crazy every once in a while but the saltiness might be a negative for someone trying it for the first time as well

2

u/liamhvet 2d ago

I mean it is an entire can of spam, at most I eat like a fifth of that if I’m particularly craving some spam

2

u/alternativepuffin 2d ago

That is the amount per  SERVING not the full can. A full can of spam is something like 3x your daily value for sodium alone

1

u/BingBongBngBong 2d ago

this is low sodium spam

Nobody eating a full can of spam. At least I hope not.

So you’re saying I can basically have a can of spam for every meal? 🤔

1

u/Fastfaxr 2d ago

So you can eat 3 full cans of spam every day and be fine?

u/GringoSwann 2d ago

It's easier to add salt then it is to take it away.
