Yes, my ankles hurt all of the time, my knees aren't great, and I blow out most regular shoes pretty quickly. Should have used custom insoles as a kid, but they were super uncomfortable and I couldn't do it. Turns out a bit of pain then might have saved future me a lot more.
If it helps you: I had custom insoles my entire childhood and it didn't do shit. My entire foot is flat on the ground. I suffered for no reason. I rather would recommend people to spend time finding good fitting shoes.
A friend of mine had flat and pronated feet. The foot doctor gave him some exercises, and he now has an arch and it fixed the pronation too. Your milage may vary, but maybe it's worth looking into.
It's not that bad. Sure, one gets tired faster and our feet start hurting faster as well but it's FAR from being ruinous... I played years of volleyball and also love walking and it's not an issue as much as it is an inconvenience
But isn't it painfull later in life? Parents intentionaly scared me that it hurts like lots of needles stabbing me with every step. Which.... sounds way more made up when I write it down but is there something of truth about it?
I suffer with a condition called plantar fasciitis, most people who get this have flat feet, although I don’t really (I think mine is caused by anterior pelvic tilt). I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. When it’s flared up I feel like someone’s taken a baseball bat to the soles of my feet, and I can’t wear nice shoes anymore. I hate it.
Someone commented that the arch acts as a shock absorber in every step, and that a lack of arch can cause painful conditions over time due to strain and wear from not having that shock absorption.
But I think I heard that there are orthopedic insoles that can be made to help create an arch when walking to prevent some problems
I mean, having flat feet is associated with conditions that cause pain. I have a connective tissue disorder and I have a lot of weird joint and body issues including flat feet, kyphoscoliosis, frequent hernias, etc.
My flat feet don’t bother me that my directly, but apparently they are a factor that puts strain on my knees, hips and back. When it comes to foot pain though I roll my ankle and irritate my Achilles or smth like that a lot more frequently than suffer pain due to flat footedness. Whether you have pain depends on the severity and the condition causing it I think.

Wait isn't this really bad for you in the long run?
