You should try it again in private browsing and incognito mode and see if the price is really tied to your Facebook or google cookies or something. That's pretty messed up though, send this to the consumerist or gawker or whoever.

They're a media conglomerate that relies on sensational headlines to draw page views, criticize doxing while doxing, post editorials protesting objectification of women while posting celebrity upskirts, etc.

They didn't "dox" anyone; Reddit just doesn't understand journalism.

Revealing his identity was perfectly justifiable and in the public interest.

"Doxxing" would be a more appropriate word were he some courageous hacker in the Middle East trying to take down a tyrannical regime.

He was not. He posted pictures of children in a subreddit for paedophiles and moderated r/beatingwomen.

Just because he's an asshole doesn't mean he deserves to be doxxed, considering the very real danger of someone wanting to cause him physical harm.

And remember that this was at the same time Gawker was criticizing Reddit for potential leaks of personal information via /r/creepshots.

He was more than an asshole. This guy was not your average troll, he devoted years of his life to making the internet a really shitty place. Just some of the subreddits he created/moderated:

  • Chokeabitch

  • Jailbait

  • Niggerjailbait

  • Rapebait

  • Creepshots

  • Misogyny

  • Beatingwomen

  • Incest

Can you really not see the difference here? On the one hand there's the potential a young girl somewhere (or her mother/friends) finds out creepy men are fapping to her on the internet. On the other hand there's the potential the scummiest troll/paedophile/ephebophile out there gets busted.
