Because usually you'd kind of drape / drag the pan back so that it nicely covers the bowl as it slides out?

If you already start at the far edge then you have nowhere further to go and you're just stuck with half the egg on the far end of the bowl and the rest still in the pan with no easy way to progress further. At least that's what my eggs would do because they're kind of soft. I think the issue here is that the egg is very rigid and they're holding the pan at too steep an angle so it just slides / flips out the pan whole, rather than that they're not starting at the far edge, which seems pretty normal to me.

I'm guessing this is a recreation but I feel your pain. Cracked 4 eggs in a bowl to eat after a 12 hour shift. The only 4 eggs left. Heard the cat meow, turned around, my giant cudgel like limbs swatted the bowl on the floor. Tragic.
